Re: Warriors have weathered the storm
Well, it's looking like the Dubs are about to go 3-0 on this group of games. Can someone step up and talk about the Warriors?

Re: Warriors have weathered the storm
i was all amped up to bump this thread, i just wanted to cover my *** and make sure there was no chance of a comeback. i can't believe how they maintained the lead with baron picking up 3 fouls and having to sit... its fairly obvious that monta ellis isn't as one dimensional as people seen to think he is. stephen jackson is the motor that keeps this team running, and his passing abilities have been sorely overlooked during his tenure with the warriors.

Re: Warriors have weathered the storm
7-1 in their last 8 and are now over .500. The beginning of the season is now a memory. A favorable schedule coming in the next 4 as well.

Re: Warriors have weathered the storm
When was the last time a team held T-Mac and Yao to a combined 21 points ? Remember, this could have been a 2nd round series last year and I'm not sure who would have won.

Re: Warriors have weathered the storm
They will falter when Nellie stops coaching, and since that wont be happening this season, well....

Re: Warriors have weathered the storm
The most underrated part of the Warriors streak is the scrappy defense they're playing. It's the same reason they finished last season 16-5 to get into the playoffs.
Half of the games the W's have won in this period in time have been closer than necessary because of the freedom of the players to chuck up 30+ 3-point shots a game - when they aren't falling (as in the Sacramento game Tuesday night), you keep a sub-par team in the game.
My concern is Nellie shortening up his rotation already 20 or so games into the season. He's got a promising young rookie in Brandan Wright - who HAS SHOWN good performance (esp. rebounding) when Nellie actually puts him into a game. Patrick O'Bryant has shown to be a more than adequate replacement for Adonal Foyle. Heck, even Austin Croshere and DJ Mbenga can spell a few minutes.
The MAJOR concern, however, is a lack of legitimate back-up PG play to spare Baron Davis - who going into today is averaging 40.4 minutes played/game. The Warriors have made efforts to get Monta to fill in as a combo guard to try to help spell some minutes from Baron - at least that was the plan in training camp. Monta is too turnover prone, however, to be a legit backup PG - but this is more than made up for by Stephen Jackson's ability to see the floor (I never knew Jack was such a good passer).

I dunno about that, HB. As I said above, Nellie better learn to use and trust his bench, otherwise, this team is going to run out of gas before the All Star game.
