here are his numbers the past two seasons against the suns(this season so far and last season):

31 points, 13 rebounds, 40 minutes
12 points, 6 rebounds, 23 minutes
34 points, 9 rebounds, 39 minutes
10 points, 8 rebounds, 30 minutes
18 points, 6 rebounds, 29 minutes

that averages out to 21 points and 8.4 rebounds in 32.2 minutes. the numbers show that he's definitely been inconsistent against the suns(2 good games, 2 bad games, 1 below average game), but the numbers still look kinda decent for someone who people generally believe is worthless against the suns and a fastbreak system.

I remember he had something like 27 points 22 rebounds and 5 blocks against Amare and the Suns a few years back. People act like he's hot garbage versus them but the Rockets have won many games against them and he's definitely been better overall in the match ups than Amare has. I think it's obvious people will bash Yao for anything they can come up with. Now Dwight Howard is the new "best center in the NBA" it never ends.

The rockets and yao do well against the suns when they just play their game. They do poorly against the suns when they find themselves trying to run with the suns. They can't and they find themselves halfway between playing their regular game and trying to run. Half way between crashing the offensive boards and trying to run back immediately. They even rush their attempts to post up because it seems like they are over excited to try to post yao up against a small guy. And they suck because of it.

I said it before and I'll say it again, if the PG situation works itself out and Francis becomes their starting PG, then the Rockets will be a legit contender. That's all that they were missing. That will free T-Mac off the ball and therefore forcing the defense to focus on 3 parts of the court rather than two.

i didn't mention yao's 12-19 shooting tonight. amare got 25 and 9 on 8-18 shooting in 39 minutes. skinner scored 2 points in his 18 minutes. i assume those are the two guys yao guarded.
