Um, the Rockets beat the Suns in the playoffs on 3 occasions.
partially true with the sonics, but the Rockets did beat the Sonics on 2 occasions as well.
The Rockets didn't (and should have for not a bogus out of bounds call which resulted in a play to win the game) beat the Sonics in 93. Had they won that game 7 overtime game, they would have beaten the Suns probably, and gone to face Jordan himself.
But they did get swept by the Sonics in 96 in the semi's though.
They just matched up poorly with those Sonics teams. Which I mean, if they would have beeaten the Bulls a lot would have had to do with Hakeem vs. Will Perdue and company.
I definitely consider that Barkley, KJ, Dumas, Ceballos, Majerle team as one of the best teams I've seen. They had me worried as a Bulls fan that series. Moreso than the Jazz would later on.
hmmmm.... S2000 and Camaro (LT1 and LS1) are actually quite comparable in performance and body style.
You should have said S2000 or a BMW M5 (similar performance but very different body style). I'd take the M5 any day of the week. As it relates to the thread, Barkley all day long.
Hakeem's Rockets rose to prominence when there wasn't a Jordan's bulls. I agree that the Rockets always gave the Bulls a hard time and if they had met in the Finals could have beaten the Bulls. But at that point, they couldn't get past the Sonics, let alone the Suns.
A few other teams gave the Bulls trouble in the regular season.
They still got beat by them in the playoffs, when it counted (see Utah Jazz).
MJ's Bulls would have taken out Hakeem's Rockets, just like they did every other team they steamrolled over in the 90's when MJ played a full season.
So a better comparison might be Kevin Johnson vs. Allen Iverson...
Allen Iverson would win in most cases, but Kevin Johnson was hella good. He should probably be in the HOF.

The saying goes "defense wins championships".
It's true. And it has been proven year after tear.
Thet Phoenix team was great, and i loved to watch them play (untill this time i wonder what would be of Richard Dumas had he kept his head straight), but they had not much defense to rely on when it counted (and it did).
About the question being asked: Barkley over Iverson 11 times out of 10.

Iverson, who is not a chuck-first pg, but an undersized pg, who presents as any defensive problems for his team barkley did for his. iverson's a better scorer, where barkley was better at rebounding than iverson at assists. that said, iverson, like barkley, didn't recieve the type of team he needed to succeed in philly. the difference is that denver was a much worse fit for him than barkely in phoenix.
that said, it's harder to build a team around iverson. I just think a properly built one would have better than phoenix.
