Boston enjoy your regular season spotlight
But come playoff time Detroit will end your magical season.
To me Detroit is still the team to beat in the East. It seems like they are rejuvenated with the addition of fresh faces. Still their apporach has been quiet and the new era Pistons benchmark of playing effectively and collectively (as always) remains. Currently they have a 9 game winning streak and the second best record in the league.
Fresh legs, Fresh legs. Dumars got them and now they are more capable of mixing it up and running with uptempo teams. Jarvis Hayes and Jason Maxiell will be very useful come PO time. Amir Johnson is starting to see more PT time and Brezec's addition is going to benefit their frontcourt even more.
mark my word bandwagoners...Boston's hype will go down!!!

After several years not representing the East in the finals, wouldn't that be again instead of still? Otherwise wouldn't Boston fans be saying the Celtics were still the team to beat in the East (after a couple of decades off)?
Once you've been beaten--especially twice or more consecutively--you're no longer the team to beat.

They still made the ECF the last two years didnt they?
There were only two teams from the East that actually won a title for the past 10 years.
Miami and Detroit.
Miami is not going there this year, so yes Detroit is Still the team to beat.

Yes...and lost both. So they might again be the team to beat.

Re: Boston enjoy your regular season spotlight
Well, it's nice to know the team to beat in the Eastern Conference is quite beatable.

Re: Boston enjoy your regular season spotlight
While I agree Detroit's set for Boston in the playoffs, I don't see the point of this thread. Not like it hasnt' been discussed before.
But yea, I think Boston'll go in the ECF to the Pistons.

OK: Boston is the best team so far this year. Cleveland represented the East in the Finals last year. One of them is the team to beat. Common sense would say it's the former at this point, depending on how much value you put on previous success. But I do like what Detroit has going on. I worry about lack of interior toughness, which they've missed to a certain extent since Ben left. McDyess and Wallace can do what they do, but it's not the same. Obviously Brezec doesn't add anything there. Still, Maxiell getting significant time has been great, and I have high hopes for Stuckey and Afflalo eventually.
But really, there is no good reason to think Boston will fall apart, barring injuries. Detroit can put up a good fight.
