Halfway through the season now...
I know not every team has played 41 games yet, but a few teams have hit that number. I guess what this thread is about, is what surprises do you see so far?
Byron Scott looks like the coach of the year to me. On top of the Southwest division, with a 28-12 record. Also, 11 Western Conference teams are in the playoff race (yes Sacramento, when healthy are still in the mix).
So what else you got? Anything surprising? Anything disappointing?

Re: Halfway through the season now...
Portland Head Coach should also get considerations for COY.
Warriors is no longer a surprise team now.
Dwight is a beast.

Heat still suck..
Looks like the "This Magic team is completely different from last year!" talk kinda failed too.

Re: Halfway through the season now...
Not a surprise but.. Thaddeus Young was definitely the right pick for the Sixers.
For a surprise how about Channing Frye finding the heart somewhere on the yellow brick road.

Re: Halfway through the season now...
Random notes:
Gerald Wallace continues to improve even after getting that contract, that's impressive, I wonder where his ceiling is, and if the Bobcats can one day be his team.
Eddie Jordan is my coach of the year. The way the Wizards are playing right now without Arenas is commendable, they have more heart then people give them credit for. First the way they played the Cavs last year, now this. People underrate Antawn Jamison. They don't even underrate him, I almost never see him mentioned in any threads, but he's been one of the most consistent, efficient players in the league for years now.
The Blazers and Hornets' play is surprising, duh
Not surprisingly, the Knicks haven't made much headway. It looks like they're finally playing a little better now that Marbury's out, I wonder if that sticks and who'll take on Marbury this offseason, if anyone.
I have a feeling Shaq's going to retire after this year, this is embarassing.
The Bulls imploded before I thought they would...I thought they had at least another year before they realized for all their heart, they just weren't that good.
I'll edit later.

DPOY- Dwight Howard
MIP- Rudy Gay

Has Gordon been on the bench enough to qualify? He's been ballin since Skiles left though.

Re: Halfway through the season now...
Most major free agent signings/trades aren't paying off for their teams, especially when you look at the hype at the time.
Zach Randolph = NY
Mo Williams = MIL
Rashard Lewis = ORL
Jamaal Magloire = NJ
Jason Kapono = TOR
Jason Richardson = CHA
Mikki Moore = SAC
Steve Francis = HOU
Darko Milicic = MEM
Boston is obviously the big winner of the offseason, but besides them, most teams didn't improve that much. Grant Hill and Joe Smith are both good signings for their teams.

Re: Halfway through the season now...
As far as 6th man goes, if Ginobili doesn't win it this season, the voters are either blind or stupid. Heck, I would give it to Travis Outlaw before I give it to Gordon.
