I don't want this thread to turn into a Michael vs. Kobe thread like all the rest but I would beg to disagree. What's important to note is although that 55 point half was amazing and resulted into that historic 81 point game, it was played mostly on one side of the court. Michael had an amazing game: MJ: 69 points,18 rebounds,6 assists,4 steals,1 block, 2 to's - 62.1 fg% wherein he dominated the whole basketball court, his presence made the opposing team scrambling to account for him on both ends of the court.
Either way, not to take away Kobe's deflating effect on the morale of that poor Toronto team, but with Jordan's best, that Cleveland team knew that on both offense and defense, they had no chance in hell.

I don't think anyone's killer instinct is on par with Kobe's, nor do I think anybody is really close. I'm not surprised at all that the players voted him the most intimidating.

Re: Intimidation, thy name is Kobe.
no doubt kobe is the most intimidating player in the nba. you just don't want to face this guy.
I'm surprised tim duncan doesn't get more respect. The guy is such a good defender, gives you nothing easy, and at the same time keep you on your toes on defense being able to score in so many ways in the post. And Dwight Howard should be more intimidating than Shaq at this point. Yao Ming is another guy who opposing big man might hate playing against.. He's just so big and so skilled, how do you play him?

The one time he did play a whole game at his best (41 minutes atleast), it was because they were down nearly 20 at the half, and they ended up winning by nearly 20. a 40 point swing in one half behind a 55 point half by Mr. Bryant. Even Michael's best can't compare to that kind of impact.

I'll grant you what Kobe can do on the offensive end, but Mikes D is what separates him though.

Re: Intimidation, thy name is Kobe.
Suprised theres no Artest. Dudes so crazy you never know what hes going to do. Is he going to pull a birthday cake out from his pocket and give it to you because he wants to be friends? Is he going to strangle you with the mesh because he doesnt like your new haircut? Maybe he'll give you his car because hes had an epiphany and decided hes going to walk to work from now on. Fact of the matter is, you just dont know with Ron.
