Kobe: No More Excuses
The time is now for the best player in the game, with the 4th best PF in the west, the best point forward in Odom, veteran PG in Fisher, and every type of role player covered, there is no excuse now for Kobe to lead the Lakers to the Finals.....

^ Like NewAgeBaller said, did Lebron James retire or something?

Kobe is not having Jordan's PPG because Kobe isnt selfish as Michael Jordan. He plays for the team where as Jordan played only for himself.

Re: Kobe: No More Excuses
You're right. He doesn't have any excuse. His team is now a contender and will be for the next few years. Like you said, the time is now.

LeBron is a superstar SF, he is a point-forward, but then you could say Jordan, Wade, McGrady, Kobe etc etc are 'point' guards.....

Re: Kobe: No More Excuses
Assuming this squad stays together and Kobe and/or his teammates are healthy and/or don't decline, sure, anything less than a title is a failure. Not necessarily this season, but definitely soon. In fact, anything less than 2 titles would be a disappointment IMO, unless contenders like the Pistons, Celtics, Spurs, Mavs, etc. get noticeably better.

Re: Kobe: No More Excuses
the beauty of it is really in the compelling nature of the coming matchups. we finally have the best players in the league on the best teams in the league. new blood. rivalries. good stuff. we'll see how they perform.

Re: Kobe: No More Excuses
it feels like this is a completely new era in the nba... or is it just me?
the only elite team to remain relatively unchanged in he past 5 years has been the the spurs (pistons too, but then losing ben wallace is kind of big)

Yeah, Bynum should be back in a few weeks, and hopefully will be able to get most of the rust off, and be ready come playoff time.
