Re: What is Devean George thinking?
So how much money is Cuban going to pay Devean under the table to make him leave?

The catch is that he's going to be persona non grata for blocking a trade of this magnitude - fairly or not. And yes, he's overstating his own relative worth as a player in all this, demanding to know what his role would be on the Nets [especially considering that nobody else on the team knows from night to night thanks to Frank's inept coaching].

would u decribe a bit about the picture?

Re: What is Devean George thinking?
for the guy who used "devean and his family moving is tough" ... you should this link out http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...4&sportCat=nba
even if it's in banter, the writer uses facts. and fact is, he's got no kids and no wife.
do you think devean wants to play on a title contender more than he wants to make big bucks? he's in the last year of his contract.

Re: What is Devean George thinking?
Maybe George doesn't like what the state of New Jersey has to offer

Re: What is Devean George thinking?
Anybody think he wants to be on a better team with a chance to win a championship? I realize the Mavs probably won't but I think they have a better chance than the Nots.

Re: What is Devean George thinking?
You guys are being really tough on him, but you'd do the same thing in the situation if you were smart.
As fans, it's easy to be mad for selfish reasons, but George is thinking about his future. He's not making max money, he's not sitting on money he'll necessarily never use in life, going to the Nets would mean a half a mil to a million dollars less in the next contract he gets.
Would you guys just go ho hum across the country and give up a potential million dollars? I'm sure George doesn't give a damn about appeasing anyone but his family, and he's doing the right thing.
And as far as being blackballed, I don't think he'll have another NTC oppurtunity in his career, and big swingmen who can shoot and defend are always good to at least fill out the roster. Those Lakers titles are always going to keep him in GMs' memory, moreso than a guy who had the same production on a poor team.

Instead of knocking Devean George, the New Jersey Nets and Dallas Mavericks should be knocking themselves. The clause has been known in George's contract situation, so it's not like this is something brand new. The Nets and Mavericks need to engineer a trade without George being involved.

Re: What is Devean George thinking?
Its baffling to me how NBA players keep having delusions of grandeur. Only George and his agent would think he is somehow going to get a contract this offseason that is better than what he is currently making. If he was having a decent season, I'd say yes but he isn't. He is currently shooting 36% from the field. Earl Boykins a vastly superior player couldn't even get a MLE type contract at the start of the season, what makes George think he is going to get anything close to that.

devean asked to be traded if he wasn't going to be played.
now he changes his mind. knock him on the head, arms, legs, chest, whatever.

The thing is that the clause in Devean George's contract gives him certain rights to block trades -- so that means Dallas has to play nice and follow the rules.
Dallas evidently should have talked to George about the deal and see what his interests lie in going to New Jersey before it went public. If he stated he did not want to go to New Jersey, then the Mavericks and Nets could negotiate a deal without involving him. Like I said, the Mavs should be knocking themselves for not doing their due diligence.
