Chad Ford reported that the Blazes are "in hot pursuit of the Pacers' Danny Granger" but the Blazers already have Travis Outlaw. My question is, who is better, and if it's Granger, is he significantly better?
Just from looking at these stats, Outlaw and Granger seem to be near twins, but i don't watch the Pacers much and stats often lie. Outlaw also has a slightly higher PER than Granger, but I think that Granger is better respected around the league and by fans. One thing to note that does not show in these stats is that although both shoot the 3ball well, Granger has taken many more shots than Outlaw from 3, although Outlaw has taken over 50, so his stats are reliable.
The Stats
Position
Outlaw:SF/PF
Granger:SF
Height
Outlaw:6'9"
Granger:6'9"
Age
Outlaw:23
Granger:24
MPG
Outlaw:26.3
Granger:35.0
FG%
Outlaw:.443
Granger:.442
3pt%
Outlaw:.397
Granger:.393
FT%
Outlaw:.701
Granger:.855
Since Granger plays 9 more minutes, the following stats are per 48
pp48
Outlaw:23.3
Granger:24.4
They're both similar as role-players but imo Granger has more chance to be a star player, somewhat like an Iguodala (just under the all-star tier). Granger has more potential I think, whereas the Outlaw you saw on the winning streak is pretty much what you're gona get when he's on (which isn't a bad thing but I think Granger has the higher ceiling, probably because his scoring capabilities are better).

I think you keep the Blazers young unit intact, a player from the outside could really throw off the chemistry, which was one thing that set the Blazers apart from the rest of the NBA during that win streak.

Kobe is not having Jordan's PPG because Kobe isnt selfish as Michael Jordan. He plays for the team where as Jordan played only for himself.

He's asking who's the better player individually I think. If you meant who's better to the Blazers, I'll say stick with Outlaw atleast for this season.

Please elaborate. I seem to get the feeling that Granger is better just because he is more respected, but I don't know why when I look at the stats. Please fill me in.
First your stats were deceiving because rather than just posting the regular stats, you decided to post all these per minute stats. I look at it like this. If Outlaw can't beat out Webster or James Jones for consistent PT, then he can't possibly be better than Granger. Granger would be starting right now in Portland and he is consistent. Stats in this case are deceiving. He's a much better player (and defender) than Outlaw.

Well Granger is better at some aspects of the game, and Outlaw at others, but I think the areas Granger can excel in can have a bigger impact on the game than Outlaw's ever will.

Granger's better now, and the stats back it up as Granger's even more productive per-48. Considering Outlaw is more athletic, younger, and less experienced, I'd say his upside is higher.
Granger is the better shooter and more experienced, and is also a class act, which would explain why the Blazers are interested in him.

Maybe worse.
Well, for starters, eventhough Outlaw's 3pt% is about the same as Grangers, Outlaw has only made 23 3's this season compare to Granger's 97 3's. you should mention this stat because Outlaw isn't really a 3pt shooter but Granger is.
I have actually seen more of Outlaw this season than I have of Granger. But going on what I've saw out of the both of them, Granger is pretty much better in every aspect of the game with the exception of athleticism. Granger has better ball-handling, wider array of scoring moves both inside and from the perimeter, and a better defender. Granger also appears to have more size than his listed 228 lbs, he looks closer to 240 if he's indeed around 6-9. Also as someone has mentioned, Granger is like a model citizen for the Pacers. For a team on the rise like the Blazers, it's understandable that they want to pack as many good character guys as possible.
