Cavs are an East contender now. Getting 4 rotation players for almost nothing is pretty good. Now Varejao will start. I wonder if they'll try to start both West and Gibson, or have West come off the bench and have Wally at the 2.

Re: Wally Z, Delonte West, Ben wallace, Joe smith to cavs

If Sasha and Wallace start for Cleveland, they could potentially be a very scary team defensively. Wallace isn't a great defender anymore, but Gooden was a really bad defender and the Cavs still managed to be one of the top defensive teams.

I'm just worried about scoring. We don't have nearly the scoring up front that we did before the trade. We really bolster our backcourt scoring though.

Re: Wally Z, Delonte West, Ben wallace, Joe smith to cavs

It probably is not the help LeBron had in mind, but honestly ANYTHING is better than Hughes, Gooden, Marshall, Newble and Simmons imo.

Wally can at least shoot the ball, Wallace might not be the defensive beast he once was and has a crappy contract but maybe the change of scenery will help, Smith is still a very serviceable center and West supposedly has a lot of upside.

Good trade for the Cavs imo.

Re: Wally Z, Delonte West, Ben wallace, Joe smith to cavs

Well Gibson is injured right now.

But yeah:
Delonte
Gibson
Lebron
Varejao
Z

With Wally Z, Damon Jones, Devin Brown, Ben Wallace off the bench.

And Pavlovic would be on the bench when he comes back. Or we start him with Delonte.

Getting Delonte is huge. Starting Varejao when he comes back is also huge.

We don't really score that way in our frontcourt though. The points will still be there but instead of Gooden shooting 18 footers Wally Z will be.

So I think it will fit with how we play more. This team is probably the most Bron-centric team he's played on in terms of pretty much everyone on the team now is built to play with Lebron on top of fitting into Coach Brown's defensive system.

A lot of pieces to integrate this late in the season though. We'll see.

Yeah, I agree with that.

We've already seen with the Boobie/Damon backcourt that if you put Lebron out there with 2 or more good shooters, you're going to cause some serious matchup problems.

The Cavs just got a bunch more shooters. And I really like that.

EDIT - And it works even though Damon sucks on defense. So I think it should be able to work with Wally as well.
