Re: Top 25 Players in the NBA - # 1
DUNCAN.
Still dominant both and off the court. He is coasting because his teammates have steadily improved through the years but if needed to he will bring it every single night.
Followed closely by Kobe and LeBron.

Re: Top 25 Players in the NBA - # 1
It used to be Duncan, but not anymore. I think Kobe has reached another level of play this season that is intangible, just can't be measured without observation, especially in terms of how he distributes the ball and plays off it. Reminds of the way Bird would use his guile on the wings to slip past defenders for backdoor cuts or sweet flip passes off screens.
I think this will become very clear this postseason.

Re: Top 25 Players in the NBA - # 1
I'm going with Kobe Bryant, as he'd be a bit easier to build a championship team around than LeBron. There are too many "Lebron needs X type of player next to him" stipulations with TheBron. I feel that if you plug in the pieces around Kobe, his game adapts as need his team mates games require.
That's just me though. It's still extremely close, because at times it seems like LeBron is a freakish experiment to create the perfect basketball player, complete with the token German genetic scientist who's screaming "Zat's too much testosterone! His pituitary gland won't be able to withstand ze pressure!"

As I said, Duncan, but LeBron, Kobe and Barron are all very close. I'm seeing Kobe winning the MVP award this year.

Re: Top 25 Players in the NBA - # 1
I gotta go with Kobe on this one. Tim Duncan is great no doubt, but I just think the Spurs are a great, great team, and that Ginobili and Parker have just as much value to the team as Timmy. Now I know Timmy turns it on in the playoffs, but so do players like Kobe and Lebron.
That being said, I think you can build a team around Kobe that'll be just as good/better than the team you can build around Duncan. Plus Kobe is clutch, and I know Duncan's no slouch, but I'd just rather have one of the best Free Throw shooters in Kobe, that I can just give the ball at the end of games without having to worry about finding him in the post.
Kobe Bryant

Re: Top 25 Players in the NBA - # 1
Some good arguments in this thread. So far it's a 3-man race:
Lebron - 23
Duncan - 15
Kobe - 15
Dwight - 2
James appeared to be running away with the top nod at first, but both Kobe and the Big Fundamental may be pulling within striking distance.
