Kobe and Lebron are capable of leading a team to a championship just like Duncan. Timmy always had great aid to make it happen. Ive yet to see King James surrounded with All Star Players, still we've seen what he can do with little help. Kobe is now showing how he can bring atop their Conference with more than an adequate supporting cast at his disposal.

My vote goes to Kobe Bryant.

I like Kobe too, but lets not bring Jordan's name here...

Re: Top 25 Players in the NBA - # 1
Duncan is no longer the best player in the league. He's still great but I don't even think he's near Kobe and Lebron right now. Lebron can pretty much get to the basket at will, with speed, strength, or both. You can't really lay off him anymore because his jumper is good. From time to time, he's lose his touch from the outside and that is when he can be stopped. His defense has improved by leaps and bounds. Kobe is playing like his usual self except his defense and playmaking look much better this year. I think he's benefited greatly from a strong supporting cast. He can play great defense and get players involved and know that his team can win even if he score only 15-20 pts. I think Duncan and KG are on the next tier. Paul, Howard, Bosh, Nash, etc....are in the next group of great players. Just my $.02.

Man, Duncan is not even the best big man in the league right now, much more the best individual player to lead a team to a championship.

Lebron James and Kobe are the best players in the NBA. You can't go wrong with either one.

Re: Top 25 Players in the NBA - # 1
Duncan still has the biggest defensive impact out of those three, no matter how well Kobe and Lebron play on that end they can never have the impact of Duncan, once again on defense that is. Offensively Duncan is still one of the best players in the league, not on Kobe's or Lebron's level, but the Spurs if want to they still can run every single play through Duncan, this will lead to more points for him without being less effective.
This is also why the Spurs are contenders every year, Duncan could take 30 shots a game and would probably still shoot 50 percent, but Ginobili and Parker need touches as well. I think once the Spurs obivously start to decline they will go to Duncan more often which leads to a higher efficiency on offense, he could still carry the load.

Re: Top 25 Players in the NBA - # 1
It's interesting that both Kobe and Lebron have better defensive +/- ratings then Duncan.
The stat has its faults but it's interesting that Ginobili has a bigger impact in terms of defensive +/- then Duncan.

I think this is more of the big man fallacy that a great big man has to be more valuable then a great small man in basketball based simply on size
