Re: Playoffs: Spurs or Lakers?
Hard to question the defending champs. Manu is playing on a whole new level, and TP is not even playing for them and yest they are still maintaining a firm position in the west.
Id take the Spurs in 6. Lakers are a year away from winning a title IMO.

Guards: Draw
Ginobili is playing out of his mind currently, and Parker is his usual self but when Kobe is on his game he can pick up whatever slack Fisher doesn't provide.
Frontcourt: Spurs
Duncan>Gasol
Thomas
Duncan is the best one on the floor and is IMO the Most efficient player in the league currently.
Bench: Draw
I would take the Spurs in 6 or 7.

Re: Playoffs: Spurs or Lakers?
Gasol fits in the Lakers offense perfectly. Even without Bynum, their offense is already one of the best in the league, and their defense is still decent. When they get him back, their offense in the half court will be unguardable. In their starting lineup, they'll have 4 guys who can post up and score, 4 guys who can shoot the jumper, passers at all 5 positions, and along with their versatility in the half court, they still have enough speed and athleticism to run with any team. Plus, on defense, with Odom at 6'10, and Gasol and Bynum at 7'0, they will have the largest, longest, and probably best rebounding frontline in the league. If Bynum can get back in time for the team to establish the chemistry needed for them to peak come postseason time, there is no team even in the west that will be a match for the Lakers.

They aren't unbeatable, and the Lakers are as talented as the Mavs team that ousted them two years back. The Suns haven't been able to beat the Spurs because year after year, the Spurs continue to exploit their weaknesses. The Laker's are much harder to exploit.

Re: Playoffs: Spurs or Lakers?
Healthy Bynum comes back and plays the way he did before the injury. I think the Lakers have a favorable chance of winning.
Without Bynum... And Gasols lack of defense in the post.
I'd give it to the Spurs personally.
Lakers really need Bynums defense and rebounding in the post if nothing else. I'm not taking anything away from Gasol offensively. The guy can score and does it well. But so can Timmy D and so Can Thomas. Lakers need someone that will challenge every shot in the paint, and use his length to deter guys like Parker from driving for an easy bucket all the time.
To me personally:
No Bynum = No getting past the Spurs.
