Tracy McGrady 2002-03 vs. LeBron James 2007-08
Judging from the fact they were similar ages and put up monster numbers, both reaching the legendary status of a PER of 30, these two players in these seasons are quite comparable. Which one do you think had or is having the better season. Which one impacted the game more and which one did or is doing more with less. (Note: I avoided using a poll because I wanted to keep this from being player A got more votes than player B, Player A is better)
So, please lets have some insight.
Edit: I meant to put LeBron James 2007-08 as the thread title.

Lebron James.

Kobe is not having Jordan's PPG because Kobe isnt selfish as Michael Jordan. He plays for the team where as Jordan played only for himself.

I'd say Lebron, because he's a better passer and facilitator than Mcgrady at that point.

Re: Tracy McGrady 2002-03 vs. LeBron James
This is another reason why PER comparison is not accurate. Both have historial rates, but I can guarantee that Lebron in that Orlando team will win more than 42 (?) games and may even advanced in the semis in the playoffs.
Lebron was just a much more dynamic and efficent player than TMAC.

Except LeBron's not more efficient than T-Mac, when comparing that season. LeBron has a TS% of 56.9% and T-Mac had a TS% 53.2, and PER measures efficiency as well and as you can see they both are similar efficiently.

I meant that in general thoughout their careers.
Also, how can you say Lebron is not more efficient than Mac when both players have posted eerily similar PER's (30's),Ts% (56%) and Offensive rating (116) to name a few...

That's why I wanted to compare these 2 season. First LeBron's career isn't even close to being over, let alone T-macs, so there's little to base a conclusive arguement on. Secondly, this season is their most comparable.

T-Mac was the more versatile and better scorer. I'm not saying you're wrong with your decision, but you gave such a minute point it's difficult to understand how it led to such a decisive conclusion.

Re: Tracy McGrady 2002-03 vs. LeBron James
McGrady was incredible that year.
Difficult to know which has had a better year. I'd say Lebron is having a better year but statiscally his FT shooting is holding him back from having clearly better year in terms of numbers. If only Lebron would shoot FT's like he does at the end of games (80+% in the clutch) throughout the whole game

When you get to comparisions of two equally impressive seasons like this, it's the minute details that tip the scales ultimately. I couldn't come in and say either blew the other out of the water in any aspect of the game. That's how I see it.
Per the main subject, offensively, they both were at a 30 ppg clip, but Lebron was more team oriented in the sense that he had to set the table pretty much as the point guard as well as score. Mcgrady didn't really develop into a comparable passer until he got to Houston. I think Lebron's had to do more this year than any superstar in recent memory.
