I agree...Melo might be the best player left, but under the stipulation this thing has been made under, it says which player could you build a championship around. Melo can create his own shot, but can't create for others. He's an average defensive wing, and you'd need to find a better one to help the perimeter defense. He has a strong post game, but as seen with the Nuggets a solid defensive big man like Camby isn't enough to make his team a contender. His overall game is rather complete, but it's tough to build around him. He is one of the top 15 players in the league (I think he's probably surpassed Iverson, but obviously not everyone else agrees). However, I think it would be easier to build around Bosh, McGrady, and maybe Baron with not as talented pieces (I'm probably alone in this thought).
And I'm curious about the Manu love that's been lasting forever in these threads. Do you guys really think you can build a championship team around Manu? He's having a great year, no doubt about it, and he's a great player. I would just like to see one of these people voting for Manu give me a Championship Caliber team where he's the best player.

He already has. Look at the 05-06 season....before AI got there he led his team to a 3 seed in the west.

Are you serious? They were tied for the 7th best record in the West. They would've been the 8th best if Artest joined the Kings earlier in the season. They didn't even advance past the first round, hardly a championship contender. Their 3 seed is the reason the seeding system has changed, as Diable alluded to. Sorry, but until this year in the West, I would never consider the 7th best team record wise in a conference a championship contender. And don't try to counter it with the Knicks making it as the 8th seed. First that was in a strike-shortened season, and second it's more like the exception that proves the rule.
Carmelo now is better than he was then.

Haha, ok fine. it was a stretch but i was jus saying, It's not like Melo isnt capable of carrying his team in the playoffs either, it jus takes time. I like Tmac tho....I think him and Melo are pretty much neck and neck in terms of skill, but i just like Melo's post game more and his versatility so ill lean toward him. Hopefully the Nugg's can just make playoffs this year tho, let alone get a good seed cuz they're scarin me rite now.

Melo is probably the most talented player left, but does he make others on his team better? His game revolves around isolation plays, which causes a team's offense to get stagnant. His defense should be better with the amount of athleticism he possesses.
