The person I was responding to said that some players can do it "time and time again." I responded to ask who this is. If there are guys who have the skill to make it consistently, then they should make them more often. Obviously, it's fluky for everyone.

Your criticism of this shot is silly. Of course it has some kind of a luck factor. I still think it's cool and interesting, just like when a highlight is shown of the ball going into the basket off a weird bounce or something. Just because it's lucky doesn't mean it's not entertaining.

I don't think the half-court shots are as interesting as the ball bouncing off the ground on a long pass and going in or something like that. Because you may not see that again for a long time, players hit fluky, lucky half-court shots often enough that it's not that interesting. (and no, I'm not contradicting myself above. You have loads of shots being taken, a handful of players will get lucky and hit them, that is not skill on those players parts, and no player does it with any kind of even remote consistency) Likewise, They don't show the ball going in off a weird bounce on highlight reels that are supposed to show how good a player is. Those are at least acknowledged as luck.

This is NOT a Kobe Bryant sux/rox thread. Please.
