Yeah, that's what's really amazing about it: how far away he took off from on a two-footed jump. His back foot was like 6" inside the FT line, for crying out loud. And he still had distance to spare. Just an amazing dunk and leap off two feet; one of the best dunks I've ever seen.
It's not surprising to me that it's gone unnoticed. There's literally a TON of Jordan stuff that people never see. The highlight videos always show the same old plays. I know from having nearly 300 Bulls games on tape/DVD that MJ did a ton of stuff that is never seen in highlight videos. Just amazing stuff.
Also, if you watch a lot of his games pre-1990, you'll notice that on many amazing plays, they don't even show replays -- it's like this stuff was expected from him, so they never hyped it up.
first, let me start off by saying.. as of now, i think MJ is the best ever and better than kobe.
im not knocking MJ.
but it doesn't seem like he brings the ball up with that much force. i agree with you.
The video probably doesn't give justice the amount of force MJ had flying off the ground at the basket.]
Also these are the same backboards the NBA use to have, but changed later on. However during the 70s and much of the 80s these were the same kind.
Second this is the same backboard glass material that Chocolate Thunder or also known as Darryl Dawkins shattered in an NBA game. So you realize there has been many great dunkers, and powerful dunkers who have thrown it down quite hard on these same kind of rims/backboards, but never broke the glass. Some guys have obviously like Shaq, Dawkins, and some College players as well, and now with proof also Michael Jordan.
I wouldn't call what was as good as it got in it's day cheap. It's just very rare for any player to break a backboard.

FYI, not sure if you guys know this (most likely not) but Kwame Brown's dad actually played with MJ in this game. Check out the vid/ 0:58-1:04 mark.
Pretty cool.
LFMAO
Kwame hands for sure.
MJ was given hands from god. Check out this clip of MJ palming the ball in mid air off a pass. It's just sick. MJ's natural abilities will be elite with any generations in the game past/present/future.
