Since when does small equate to being bad ? I personally like it the way it is. You get great seats/tickets right near the court, and your so close to the action, Key Arena and The Rose Garden have always been two of my favorite NBA arenas. And i've been to The Oracle, Staples, Pepsi Center, Delta Arena (I believe was the name of it when I Saw the Jazz play) Arco, and the Palace of Auburn Hills. Key Arena is probably my favorite right after the Rose Garden. Old/Small doesn't = bad when it's a nice venue like Key Arena, in a great area in Seattle, right by the EMP, Space Needle, and the huge park in general where they have tons of festivals. Inside of the Key is sweet, comfortable seats, close proximity to the court, and over all great atmosphere. So tell me exactly what it is I'm missing out on that Key Arena doesn't provide ?

I actually like the arena, but what it's missing in the eyes of the team owners, past and present, is luxury suites! Teams can't make money without those suites. As a hoop fan, it's a cool arena, but on the business end of it, it won't work.

Yes. They voted no to the arena so bye, bye. I also blame the old owner for being so naive to think a OKC owner wouldn't move the team. Both parties faults IMO. He should have sold it to a rich Seattle native.

if ive heard the story correctly, i think schultz was a little upset about not getting financing for the new arena, so he did the ill show you routine, plus he made a HUGE amount when he sold b/c the okc firm wanted it at all costs

Re: Does anyone think the city of Seatle should be blame for the Sonics Departure ?
anyone have statistical data showing how many arenas in the NBA are paid by taxpayers? i'm curious cause i dont know if it's common for the city to actually majority of the arena cost.
what i dont understand is that wouldnt it very difficult to get something like this passed unless it brings some kind of perk or benefit to the city? we're talking about tax dollars here and uncle sam knows we americans pay mucho already. also consider the fact that majority of seattle residents arent the diehard or casual supersonic fans. for me it would be the anaheim might ducks asking us (tax payers) to pay majority of their new arena. no ****ing way i dont watch hockey gtfo ducks. (well you get my point, no offense to hockey) so technically you cant blame the sonic fans perhaps its right to blame the clay bennett for being so hasty with the decision without making any type of effort to make the team more attractive and likeable to the gain more votes from fans. take an example, if warriors pushed for a new arena after that insane playoff run, i have no doubt the city would of approved it as many non-basketball and casual fans became infatuated with the team. but coming straight out from a nba lottery and asking for a new arena? isnt that asking too much?
just thought to share my opinion, go easy...
