Players Height
Do you think height really matters,
i'm 16 and about 5'11-6'0,
preferably i play power forward,
most of my friends i play with are around my height,
except one friend who is 6'8 and only a year older,
i can score on him,
but is height and essential for all top players,
i mean sure you have undersized players for positions,
but how undersized can you be,
and also players such as lebron james experienced growth spurts
of about 4-5 inches when they were younger, is there anything they did
that helped this, as i know lebrons mum is only 5'5.

Re: Players Height
His dad was probably 6'8.
Also, learn to play PG unless you just want to play pickup games.

Re: Players Height
If you really want to get some-where playing basketball stop playing pick up games, you pick up bad habit and risk injury. Join a basketball program for proper mechanics, footwork, and conditioning. Learn to play guard, you height is not ideal at all for forward, work on your ball handling, foot speed for ofeernse/defense.

Re: Players Height
ask the iversons/earl boykins/mugsy bogues/nate robinson's if height really matters
i don't think it matters in general when playing ball, but regarding position.. yeah of course it does, you cannot properly defend a guy 6'5/6'6+ at 6'0" ,, unless you have really great foot speed, but on that tip, you'll need to have great reach or they'll just shoot up over you.
shortest PF's in the league at around 6'7"
And no there is nothing you can do to help you grow, it's genetics, best you can do is work on conditioning & strength. you can refine your game not your height.

Re: Players Height
I find it amazing that Scottie Pippen went into college as 6'1 and grew 7 inches by the time he was in the NBA. Same with Dennis Rodman who grew about 7 inches as well.
