Re: Manu Ginobili is the 2007-08 Sixth Man of the Year
I'm glad to see that other people also feel that this year's 6th man award is a joke. I know that Manu has all rights to be in this category but there should also be some sord of subjective criteria that provents players like him having this award. Would this award go to Kobe if for some reason Phil Jackson leavs him on the bench for the first 2 minutes of the game and then comes in, scores 40 points and leads his team to victory? With these standards it would, but that would just be wrong. This situation with Manu is very much like that. Players who should get this award are players like Barbosa and Toni Kukoc.
Re: Manu Ginobili is the 2007-08 Sixth Man of the Year
Because he is too good he is undeserving ? This has the Tim Duncan logic written all over it. You are either coming off the bench or not, Barbosa is also playing 30 minutes a game.
Re: Manu Ginobili is the 2007-08 Sixth Man of the Year
No, it's not because he's too good, it's because of his role in his team. Picturing Barbosa as a 6th man even if he's more important to Suns than lets say Raja Bell is natural. Player who is 100% sure to have the ball in his hands when it's tied with 10 seconds to go is not a 6th man.

I think so. First one should be : If you're leading your team in scoring, you can't be up for this award.
Not exactly like that, but something like that. No, it sounds very stupid. Now I see it's not so easy to come up with solution
Re: Manu Ginobili is the 2007-08 Sixth Man of the Year
The real farce is that Ginobili wasn't named to the All Star team, despite arguably being one of the top 10 players in the game.
6th man award in the least of what they could give him.
