Re: more dirk respect: chandler pushes him david west touched his face

The hornets are doing this on purpose, but it's for the benefit of the refs who spent the entire first half of that game sending the mavericks to the line for a bunch of lame fouls.Instead of officiating the game they were officiating a bunch of third rate drama queens flopping around. You'd notice that the game was officiated much more fairly in the second half. When the hornets got fouled they got calls.Dirk still got his playacting fouls, but things weren't completely one-sided.

The Hornets have been treated like second class citizens all season long and they're standing up for themselves for the refs. You start a few confrontations and suddenly the officials act like it's a freaking democracy where everyone is created equal no matter how long they've been flopping around like a fish on the beach.

All season long. People have been wanting the Hornets to fall and go away,... all ..... season..... long. Watching Around the Horn and PTI I have yet to hear anyone mention what caused West to go at Dirk in the first place.

The underdog card now ? Umm... ok, not sure why you bring that up in conjunction with Dallas, they aren't getting preferable treatment from the refs either.

PTI shows Dampier push CP to the floor with no call as we speak...Pushing him down while he was in the air shooting with no call.

i actually hold the posters here at bbb.net at a higher threshhold than most all analysts, and all you have to do it count up the tallys of the playoff poll and see the final standings as 35-22, in favor of the mavs winning the series. how often do you see such a lopsided vote when talking about a #2 seed versus a 7 seed? i know hollinger and kenny smith have the hornets advancing to the second round, but almost all other journalists and analysts have picked the mavs to win.

How long did it even take when the hornets WERE leading the SW division for it to even be talked about? and when it eventually was discussed, everyone essntially felt that they would fall off some time or another, and even using past post-allstar break performances as an example of them melting down in feb-march.

Regardless of what happens in the playoffs and this series, the hornets took the throne atop the toughest division in the NBA, and have proved they are no fluke, whether the general nba fans wanna pony up and admit it or not.

There were some questionnable calls in favor of Dallas in the first half, but it evened out in the second. Also, Dallas was much more aggressive in the first half which lead to more free throws, the Hornets were not sharp. Byron Scott wasn't only smirking about the refs, he wasn't satisfied with how his team played. It was a different story after halftime, at the end Dallas had 22 fouls, New Orleans 24.

Someone move this thread to NBA Playoffs 2008 please.

Well I created a thread in March asking why the Hornets could not win it all, I think that Paul should he MVP, I'm certainly not the one wasn't looking past them. New Orleans won 56 games, Dallas won 51, it's not your typical #2 vs. #7 matchup and a lot of people factor in that the Mavs have been here before and might come together for one last time because it is their last shot with this group.

There is no underdog in this series, but I also don't think that any team should be considered favorites. They split the season series, Dallas has played better towards the end of the season whereas the Hornets did not. Those are all some reasons why the majority voted for Dallas, however there were not a lot of opinions saying that Dallas would win for sure. If you go the Dallas team forum, they will all tell you that they wouldn't be surprised if the Hornets take this series.

well put my friend. i guess the frustrating thing is that the mavs fans seem level headed in their beliefs(most anyway) and its the outsiders that arent fans of either team that seem to think that dallas is head and shoulders better than NO.

its frustrating that people, whether it be fans, analysts, journalists, etc.. base their opinions as FACT when they probably haven't even scouted or watched the other team for more than a handful of games in an entire season. Thats probably one thing that gets me, the hornets had like 3 nationally televised games this year, and since they werent thrown in our faces every other thursday/friday/sunday, people seem to discount their wins and success.

on ABC sunday mike wilbon was joking about how he wished that he'd voted for CP3 as MVP over Kobe after watching his opening day performance, but **** man, hes been havin 30/10 games all over the place this season, you just werent watchin em.

Re: more dirk respect: chandler pushes him david west touched his face

I like the TNT crew, but I do not listen to them for their basketball analysis.

And I wouldve thought if you put your hand on another players face like that, it should be an ejection or an automatic suspension?

Dirk did the right thing by not retaliating. I'm sure the Hornets would love for dirk to get ejected and suspended.

If dirk retaliates then he needs to keep his cool, and if dirk doesn't retaliate then he's a pansy. The guy had great numbers in game 1 but still gets ****ted on. People need to quit with all these "reasons why dirk is soft" and admit that they just don't like him.

Also, if Dirk drives to the rim, flops then gets a foul called in his favor that is smart basketball. Especially considering he's one of the best free throw shooters in the league. I would rather have him flop and get 2 shots than run over players and risk an offensive foul or turnover.
