Kobe really didn't seem like an MVP candidate before Gasol arrived or before Bynum started showing what he can really do.

CP3 for MVP...cmon it fricken rhymes!
Thats just like saying Chris Paul didn't seem like an MVP candidate before David West exploded and Tyson Chandler got healthy.

thats is kinda true drewbs

thats why i said there has to be a median between chris pauls insane per, asst/to ratio, 2nd seed hornets against kobe's all around game dealing with injury yet led lakers to best in the west argument.

to me that median is kg, and he should win it imo. dpoy, his 1st ring, and possible finals mvp. might as well give him the reg season mvp for a sweep, because he's deserving anyway.

I think Bryant is the only player in this league that is expected to win a crazy amount of games regardless to all the circumstances. I find no other reasonable explanation for the:"Well they were only 11-10 without Bynum and Gasol." and similar brainfarts.

and for the post scriptum: aznzen, there was nothing similar to what you stated "leaked" on RealGM, so I don't know where you're getting your intel from. Unless it was hidden somewhere in the CBA something forum .

peace

edit: it's also funny how all the "Nah one game doesn't mean anything." people that were downplaying the Hornets loss to the Lakers and the 2-4 finish to the season, Paul's poor performances in those losses and the loss of the first seed are coming alive in these threads. Another interesting trend...
I would have thought that by now someone would have answered your question, but guess not.Too much Peter Panning is being done by a lot of the posters in this forum.

Re: Chris paul for MVP

My reasons for my votes.

Lebron James to me he isn't Most Valuable Player but the Most Unstoppable player, if he feels like it he'll just cut to the basket for an easy two points and there isn't anyone that can stop him. NOT EVEN KOBE BRYANT. But to say that he is the best player in the league, but yet hardly has a good jump shot, and is a liability at the free throw line (70% from the line), is kind of a disgrace to the game. When you say best player in the league you want that player to be able to be simply amazing at everything.

Kevin Garnett Really he hasn't missed a beat, there's talk that he's slowed down a step but its just the fact that he doesn't need to play 40 minutes a game and take every shot for his team to win that makes his numbers go down. It hurts him hugely when it comes to the MVP voting since you have Stat studs like Lebron, Chris, and Kobe. But if you just look at how KG changed to community of Boston, HELPEDlead his team to 66-16 record, and was defensive player of the year. Then its kind of hard not to vote for this guy.

Chris Paul Lets face it, NO ONE expected the hornets to make it to the playoffs let alone the second seed in a western conference where you needed 50 wins to MAKE the playoffs. Chris Paul's Stats 21.1 PPG, 11.6 APG, and 2.7 SPG makes a huge case for Paul in itself. Plus adding that his team had 55 wins and putting into consideration that without him the teams offense is more than likely horrible. Yet another thing to add is that he really saved the New Orleans Hornets from moving to yet another home. This year wasn't the year of Lebron, wasn't the year of the Celtics, or the Year of Kobe...it was the Year of Chris Paul.

Kobe Bryant In my opinion, because he can do anything you ask him to do and do it amazingly, Kobe Bryant is the best player in the game today. He finally has the leadership to go with his amazing ability on the court that kind of reminds you of one person...Micheal Jordan. There was talk in the beginning of the year from people such as Stephen A. Smith that even WITH Kobe Bryant that the Lakers wouldn't make the playoffs, the Lakers are the number one seed in one of the strongest Conferences in history. He was told that he can't get the MVP until he makes his teammates better. Pau Gasol is getting mainly lay ups, Lamar Odom is now a 3rd option and isn't pressured to be the 2nd guy. Kobe was told he can't get the MVP until his team gets passed the 50 mark AT LEAST. Kobe's team is at 56 wins. They told Kobe Bryant that individual stats alone won't give him the MVP, so he decided to lessen his stats for the better of the team.

Kobe Bryant has done everything we told him to do to be considered for the MVP award, what more can we say that he hasn't done that he needs to do to get MVP? I've ran out of them.

In conclusion my voting will stand for Kobe Bryant.
