Re: Anyone Watching The ESPN Outside The Lines On NBA Players and Money?
The truth is, if you're only going to make money for a small stretch of your life (specifically when you are your youngest), when you no longer make that money, the lifestyle has to change tremendously.
Case in point, my current employer. He sold his company to Ebay, so he is a multi-millionaire, no doubt, but he has like 12 different financial accounts that are simply for investing and saving his money and then he has 4-5 other accounts for spending.
If you aren't continually making big money, you're gonna go broke because the lifestyle of a millionaire costs a lot. This is why I am really trying my hardest to become a Hollywood producer, because the shelf-life of a talented producer could be from now till the day I die, quite literally.
An NBA player (or athlete period), sure as hell can't say that.

OT: Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that greedy ***** Shaunie get less money because she cheated on him, which was the cause for the separation?

You'd think that but there is something that happens psychologically when you get a large unexpected windfall that makes you wind up spending more money than you have.
The large amounts of money to regular people seem so big that it would be impossible to spend. If you stayed around your current lifestyle level then you would be right...but you wouldn't stay at your current level. Therefore you'd be in the same situation.
I'm not saying you personally...just the general you

’Neal claims in the petition - which reveals the two have a prenuptial agreement - that his wife has been “secretive about her assets” and asks the court to require Shaunie to give an accurate account of all assets acquired during their marriage.

Re: Anyone Watching The ESPN Outside The Lines On NBA Players and Money?
A pre-nup is not infallible people. If you have children the dynamics change quite a bit. Lionel Richie had a Pre-nup and he paid a lump sum of 20 million, plus $300K per month of child and spousal support to his 2nd wife (where he had the pre-nup). Because of Lionel's wealth, he practically has an unlimited revenue stream (his music is timeless and his royalties are in the billions now).
A pre-nup, combined with other personal wealth documents are the way to go, but the truth is, it's very hard to get a woman or man to sign 20 documents stating that all income will be separate during the duration of a marriage. If you're wealthy like that, it's better to be Jack Nicholson and knock up a bunch of a women and just pay child support under the table.

Its funny that most people here seem to be on the same page on this, and yet when Andrew Bogut raised these exact same points not long ago about the lifestyles of nba players and how they could not be maintained after their basketball careers were over he copped so much critisizm from everyone for what he said, including most posters on this forum.
