Pat Riley Likely To Step Dow As Heat Coach
Quote:
It looks like suffering through a 15-67 season is enough to move Pat Riley off the bench and back into the front office.
According to multiple Florida media reports, the future Hall of Famer is expected to step down as the Miami Heat's head coach at a news conference set for 4 p.m. ET.
The reports, from the South Florida Sun Sentinel and the Miami Herald, say Riley will stay on as team president.
The Sun Sentinel reported that current Heat assistant coach Erik Spoelstra would replace Riley as head coach.

Re: Pat Riley Likely To Step Dow As Heat Coach
Im a huge Riley fan but in all honesty this just strikes me as cowardly. Like hes not willing to put in the work to make his players better. This along with the obvious tanking this year kind of tarnishes his image a bit in my eyes.

Re: Pat Riley Likely To Step Dow As Heat Coach
riley doesnt like the hardwork involve to coach and develop a young team.
he wants a championship ready team and swoop for the kill. phil jackson had a similar rep in chicago and lakers, but at least he started from the scracth with kobe and a bunch of nobodies at first.
this is why phil>rile even if we dont include how many rings each coach won

phil jackson had that rep b/c he said it didn't interest him, so he has acknowledged as much.

Re: Pat Riley Likely To Step Dow As Heat Coach
why so much hate for riley? he's old and coaching probably stresses him out too much.
everyone likes to bash on him, claiming that it was riley that ousted him from miami.. yet there was an article recently that cited SHAQ was the one who ousted "ron jeremy" out of miami.

riley is not that old. i betcha he can pull more tails than you and your daddy.
hubie brown took a more stressful job and he helped the grizz appeared in the playoffs.

Re: Pat Riley Likely To Step Dow As Heat Coach
not really, no one expected anything from the grizzlies.
here, riley has a top 10 player... and a reputation of winning to live up to. and yes, he IS that old. he's approaching his mid 60's.
before you mention that phil is around the same age, i'd have to say that.. not every person holds up the same. riley doesn't look healthy at all, he sorta looks like a prune really. besides, phil isn't healthy himself.
if i were in that position, where if i took the job as a head coach but would have to pay with my health.. i certainly wouldn't do it, and i don't think most people here would either. so stop the hate.

Re: Pat Riley Likely To Step Dow As Heat Coach
What Riley does is his own business. It's not like he's going to make much of a difference to that team.He should be focusing on acquiring better players to put around Wade before his day of decision arrives. You definitely don't want Wade's contract to end with no reason for him to remain.
