Re: Tony Parker vs. Steve Nash
Steve Nash.
If you want to argue Nash vs Parker because of the past series, you're only fooling yourself. Nash struggled against the double teams and traps, while Parker cruised for layups because the Suns are so terrible at guarding the pick-n-roll.
Some could argue for Parker in different situations, but I'd take Nash 8 of 10 times.

Re: Tony Parker vs. Steve Nash
From an offensive standpoint, Parker may be faster, but Nash is the far superior shooter and passer. The fact that Parker can't shoot at 80% from the free throw line really stands out to me. While Parker isn't a slacker on defense, he's not exactly a stellar defender, and is able to (for lack of a better word) hide in the Spurs superior defensive system, whereas Nash plays in a system where his defensive flaws are not only exposed, but magnified to a great extent, as the Suns collectively are bad at defense, not just Nash. Spurs are quick to trap the primary ball handler on the opposing team, effectively double team, and still can recover. Having Tim Duncan, really a perennial DPOY candidate, as your anchor on defense doesn't hurt you either. Nash does give an effort on D and is very good at taking charges. He doesn't get nearly the same quality of help defense as Parker does (Bowen and Duncan/Thomas > Bell and Stoudemire/Shaq)
Nash > Parker. If Nash was drafted into San Antonio, I think they would have more championships, but that's just my opinion.

Re: Tony Parker vs. Steve Nash
You put Nash on the Spurs and Parker on the Suns the Spurs would still win while the Suns won't be nearly as good.
I'll go with the 2 time MVP for at least another year or 2.

Re: Tony Parker vs. Steve Nash
well parker plays alot better D then nash. 1 dimensional players rarely win rings as center of the team.

Re: Tony Parker vs. Steve Nash
Let's see TP turn a 35% team into a 75% team as Nash did, then we'll talk.

Re: Tony Parker vs. Steve Nash
You know, I think people overestimate the ability to win games in the regular season.
Have you noticed most offensive based teams in the NBA, especially superior offensive, can amount many wins during the regular season with little attention to defense.
Examples...Dallas with Nash and Dirk
Phoenix
Golden State
Denver
All of these teams were offensive juggernauts...stats are gaudy and wins come along with the territory because of good point guards who control the up tempo offenses...
Its a recipe for regular season success...
If you are saying Nash is better because of that recipe then maybe Tony Parker should be given a chance to run one of those type of teams.
I think Nash's stats have been helped tremendously by never having to worry about his own defense and playing in those type of offenses. Tony Parker has been in the opposite situation so his stats look worse.
Pound for Pound, Tony Parker is the better PG.

The thing is, Tony Parker can't run a team.

Re: Tony Parker vs. Steve Nash
^
Pretty much sums it up.
Nash is a superstar while Parker is a star. Parker still has many holes in his game and he is still shooting inconsistently from outside though his mid range J is improving. Maybe the Spurs system disallows him to pad his stats but Nash has been better regardless of his team. He has consistently shot a good percentage from mid-range and threes and had career years in Phoenix. Yeah I think if you switch places years ago Nash would have had to play defense but create a lot of shots for anybody in the San Antonio roster plus he's a deadly shooter.

With the West being so competitive, if you put Parker on the Suns the Suns might just not make the playoffs.
