Re: Melo trade proposal
I never understood the appeal of hypothetical trades that'll never happen.

well, considering the immortal ball scientist put this forth as the lineups:
Quote:
1. Melo/Camby to Heat for Marion/Beasley
Heat lineup: Wade, Melo, Haslem, Camby, Williams
Heat top 3 in the east
Nugs Lineup: Iverson, Beasley, Marion, Nene, Martin
|
You've got Shooting Guards playing point guard, small forwards playing shooting guard... I can only imagine Carmelo trying to chase Rip Hamilton or stay in front of Ben Gordon.. same with Beasley.

perpetually decent means you don't have the room to get any better. if you get to "decent" status and sit around waiting for the lottery to come in (like gasol), then you probably aren't running the franchise very well. that trade for gasol doesn't happen every year... i'd go as far as to say that it doesn't happen every 6 years even.

Ummm... yeah... Jordan and Pippen played defense...
Jordan > Wade
Pippen > Anthony...
Other than that, sure.

they are still superstars and both looking good to be future hofers.
two hofs aint a bad place to start...
instead you get marion who might leave in free agency.
and a hyped up rookie who may or may not be as good as melo.
AND you gut a huge upgrade over blount/barron

'Melo has some work to do before he gets put in the hall. He's like a better handling version of Glenn Robinson right now (who had a silky smooth J), and is going to have to elevate his game if he's going to win the requisite amount of big games to get put in the hall of fame. Tons of potential though, I agree with you there.

Robinson was never as good a scorer as melo is now, Melo's offensive game is much more complete.

Re: Melo trade proposal
he's better on offense, but i wouldn't say much more complete.
melo jacks up too many jumpers.

I guess that's what I meant by "better handling version", as that was really the only glaring deficiency in Big Dog's offensive game.
