The Thomas trade was horrible, he's an expiring contract and one of your only decent bench bigs, and not only do you give him away for a trade exception you never use, but you also give up 2 first round picks just to make the Sonics interested... Wow
The James Jones and #24 pick(Rudy Fernandez) was pretty bad too, both players fit perfectly with Phoenix's style, Jones slumped last year and his shot was off for a while but he came back strong and was top 5/leading the league in 3pt percentage for a while before ending up at 44.4%. And after the year Fernandez is having in Spain he looks like he would have been top 10. if not top 5, in this years draft and they would have been paying him slightly above 1M a year because he was taken so late last year. Again they got nothing but a trade exception which they didn't use and cash considerations (3 million dollars)... again Wow
I think the Joe Johnson deal was fine. However, the Suns have been making a lot of other mistakes with their roster for several years in their obvious efforts to save money. It's going to be the blink of an eye before they're too old and the cupboards, rather than stocked with Nate Robinson, Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Rodriguez, Luol Deng, Rajon Rondo et al, will have Barbosa, Diaw, Stoudamire and ... DJ Strawberry?
How about the 2004 No 7 overall pick for cash and 2005 pick from Chicago.... Then to sell the 2005 pick (Rondo) for cash?!? Andre Iguadala for nothing! That's what that trade did!
