What if Duncan were to retire after this season?
Let's say that the Spurs lost to the Hornets in 4 or 5 games, and Duncan decided that he has played long enough, won enough titles, and accomplished enough over his career and was ready to hang it up.
How far would the Spurs be able to go without him next year? Would they still win 50? 40? 30?

they would win about 40 games and be in the lottery. but ginobili would have a big year, maybe make 2nd or 3rd all-nba team.

40 to 44 games. Their low post options outside of Duncan is woefully bad. They still have two dynamic scorers in Manu and Parker, and their team chemistry is the best in the league. Of course having Pop on the sidelines is a plus also.

35 wins? They'd be one of the worst teams in the west. Better than Grizz, Seattle and Twolves.... maybe better than the Kings... A little worse than the Clippers

Re: What if Duncan were to retire after this season?
If they could get Splitter to come over they'd be a .500 team maybe. If Timmy retired without any replacement it would be a catastrophe.Manu and Parker have never seen a single game when the opposing coach woke up that morning and said I got to stop that guy no matter what else.Their entire team is built around what Duncan brings. He leaves then there are no double teams,he's not passing out of the double teams and there aren't any open shooters. The entire thing falls apart and there really isn't anything left to build around.
You could take away Parker with two seconds preparation...You just pack the paint. If he hits his jumper good for him. He'd get plenty of them for practice.Manu would be a really good player, but name one team that's ever been any good built solely around a really good wing player(notice that this description doesn't apply to Michael Jordan)

30-40 Games. Tony P and Manu wont get the job done in a full season then end up with a playoff spot.

30-40, not too good in play-offs though.
