why do they always mention irrelevant stats? of those 10 "playoffs in which the lakers have won 5 or more straight" how many members of the current team have been on those 10 teams? that's just a stupid franchise record that has little to do with the CURRENT players... yet i always see the media mentioning it.

what also bothers me is... "80% of the teams that win the first game will win the series"

it's a true statistic, but it ignores a lot of important variables. if you're a #1 seed that has won 60 games in the regular season, and youre playing against a team that won 41 games in the regular season... you SHOULD win the first game. plus, if you win the first game at home, that means you SHOULD win the series because you have the advantage.

Yeah I hate those stats too. They aren't that correlative.

if two competitive teams play one another, and the home the home team wins the first one... it's not an "80% chance" for the winning home team to win the series... because the "80%" stat includes calculations of good teams playing bad teams.

It is totally irrelevant. It's like saying that the Lakers have never won the title in the last ten years when Kobe, Shaq and Derek Fisher were not on the team at the same time. If Boston faces New Orleans in the finals it doesn't matter that the Celtics have 16 championships while the Hornets have zero, those stats are absolutely meaningless.
