You apparently didn't watch game 3 of the Spurs-Hornets series.
Barring injury, Chris Paul may be at the beginning of a hall-of-fame career. He will certainly make it, if he sustains his current level of play for 7-10 years. But he doesn't make Parker look like a dweeb. It seems doubtful that Parker will make it into the HOF, but he is good enough that somebody posted a thread asking that question a few days ago!
God Bless America.

Re: Tony Parker is OVERATED....
i don't think parker can carry a team by himself, but he's not overrated because i don't think most people think he can.

Re: Tony Parker is OVERATED....
His ability to break defenses down with dribble penetration puts the defense on their heels and creates opportunities for everyone else on the floor. He plays competent defense and in the transition game can beat anyone (which is huge considering how good defensively the Spurs are). PGs are supposed to dictate pace and get their teammates involved in the game - Parker does that better than anyone else (thus definitely not overrated).

Re: Tony Parker is OVERATED....
As good as Chris Paul is, he can't guard Tony Parker. Tony Parker can get into the lane at will with his speed.

And neither can Parker guard Paul, you need to have a great team defense to somewhat contain point guards. When they are hitting midrange jumpshots there isn't really much you can do because they are too skilled.

Yes Chris Paul is good enough to make Tony Parker look like a dweeb. Chris Paul is a future MVP who has the skills to lead a team. Tony Parker is a very good player who had a chance to play with one of the greatest big man of our era. When all is said and done, one has the potential to be a HOFer while the other is just going to be a perennial All star.

Re: Tony Parker is OVERATED....
also...to add to that...i think that Tim duncan doesnt play up to his potential..and people who say that hes the greatest pf in history are off...top 5 yea...but #1...not really...hes never had to dominate or take over games because hes been fortunate to have stars around him every year...if duncan had to play as hard as olajuwon or even young shaq hed be a lot more tired by now and his teams wouldnt win with him scoring 18 on 6-14 shooting...

Re: Tony Parker is OVERATED....
Tony Parker is not overrated, he is NOT the main player on Spurs, none can't denie that Timmy D is "the man" in san antonio, but parker is really a perfect fit in san antonio, he is as good as any at controlling the pace of the game, he is one of the fastest players in the league, he plays intence D (and no he can't contain paul on his own, but who can? he still do a decent job) and he is as good in the fast break as anyone is!
