His shot selection is beyond abysmal, and there have been many times he has single handedly lost us games. (Both Reg season and Playoffs). If Phil can contain Rodman.. I'm sure he could contain Artest.

Phil is older and Artest is more confrontational than Rodman. We'll see. Don't forget Phil might not travel to some away games due to his health.

artest is more confrontational? not with his coaches. artest, unlike rodman, has changed his ways a bit - he's gotten a little more mature. rodman was always the same.

Re: Artest Says He's Signing with Lakers.

Artest is a great individual and always has been. he's a true competitor on the court, and off it he hasn't been a problem. i don't recall him ever having issues with coaches the way you guys make it seem, nor do i remember him being a locker-room problem. the brawl has people thinking he's some uncaged animal but it simply isn't the case. you need to look no further than the western conference semis to see how professionally he handled himself. did he get in kobe's face? yeah, but it was to prove a point not to provoke a fight. he's going to get along really well with Kobe, Lamar and Pau, and gives LA even more lineup possibilities. his offense will take a hit, but he'll have his opportunities to score. one thing is certain is that both his and kobe's defense will look better than they have been playing together than individually. you can imagine everyone in LA is ecstatic, and that Odom is hoping to resign to win more rings playing alongside his childhood teammate.

as a Kobe and Artest fan I cannot be happier to see this pairing.

I guess Kobe feels like averaging 30 again. At this point, he’s like Keanu at the end of the first Matrix. He became who he was supposed to be and now he’s just gonna do whatever he wants.

Artest is more confrontational than Rodman? I can't remember any player in the past two decades who has been more confrontational, physically and verbally, with the player he's guarding than Rodman.

Ron Ron literally ran from Kobe when tapped; Rodman used to wrestle Mailman on EVERY play, come playoff time.

phil is actually much more laid back nowadays, so i can see him coexisting w/ ron, he does'nt seem to get into a players face unless their name is lamar, bynum and farmar. and artest is a different player now than he was in indiana.

Re: Artest Says He's Signing with Lakers.

Rodman never was suspended from the league and held to the fire over his actions by the league like Artest was. They let him be him even after kicking a cameraman in the nads. I mean the beer thrown at you is more of a reason to go after someone than tripping on someone out of bounds IMO.

I'm more worried about Kobe trying to talk to Ron like he does some of the other guys. Phil will keep them in line is what you'd like to think. What if it's a road game in a hostel environment where they are playing terrible and should be winning against a lesser team and Phil decided to stay back on that road trip? Kobe starts playing coach ******** and calls our Artest for taking a shot or something....

This rich getting richer trend in the NBA is kind of getting out of hand. Teams tanking and going into this so called rebuilding mode is just as bad for the league. At what point do they just axe 2 to 4 teams so we have twice as many teams loaded with talent?

Yeah, I have seen that multiple times from Artest. Hopefully those occurrences will be few and far between, but I'm sure we wil definitely see it.

Has Ronnie Postal's meltdown after getting elbowed by Mr. Bean fallen down the memory hole?

Re: Artest Says He's Signing with Lakers.

^ ehmunro, I'm almost 100% certain you said the league was over-reacting because it was Artest who was doing the confronting on that play. I could be wrong, though.

Besides, Artest is always going to get treated by the league that way, he hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt and being on the Lakers shouldn't change that. I fully expect him get suspended/ejected from games this season, maybe even in the playoffs again, because he really is that nuts sometimes and the league has had enough of it. And no one can really blame the front office for that, he's insane. My personal hope is that the team and Jackson can keep him in-line.
