Re: Trail Blazers' Greg Oden suffers another setback, less likely to play this season
Why should he retire? You can make a lot of money being a shitty NBA big man. Kwame is making five isn't he? He can still be better than Dampierre or Diop. I've seen Diop play, he could probably play better than him with a walker.

Re: Trail Blazers' Greg Oden suffers another setback, less likely to play this season
A team of Kevin Durant, LaMarcus Aldridge and a deep cast of complementary players easily would have been the class of the Western Conference. The Blazers would have had a ton of flexibility and depth upfront to go a lot of ways depending on the matchups. Against a team like the Lakers' big guys, Portland could start Marcus Camby and bring Gerald Wallace off the bench. The Blazers could play Durant, Aldridge and Wallace when it wanted to go to a quicker lineup, with Nicholas Batum and Jamal Crawford coming off the bench to supply incredible firepower.
With the current team and Oden, I simply don't see it going any further than a lower playoff seed. Oden's style of play mandated a halfcourt style, which would not allow the Blazers to be a more running team. Raymond Felton would have been the most affected in a halfcourt game. it also would allow teams to pack it in on Aldridge and Oden. Portland is a decent three-point shooting team, but it would mean Wallace may have to sit so Batum can play some more.

It's clear that Oden's never going to play a full season. I was one of the hopefuls before but his body just isn't built to play 82 games a season. I thought Greg Oden wanted to go to med school after the NBA or something? |
