BBF 1990's All-Decade Team
Inspired by this thread: http://www.basketballforum.com/nba-f...ou-choose.html
Simple premise. We are trying to make the best possible 10-man roster of players who dominated the decade from 1990 to 1999. I do not think we should require that the player fit into any particular positional requirements. Whatever 10 guys you think would make the best possible overall team, you post. Let me help a little. Here are the top 31 players in the decade (sorted by PER) that played a reasonable amount of their career (over 410 games - 5 full seasons) during that time period: 1) Jordan (28.7 PER; 585 Game Played) 2) DRob (27.7; 685) 3) Shaq (27.4; 455) 4) Karl Malone (26.0; 785) 5) Barkley (24.9; 664) 6) Hakeem (24.5; 689) 7) Stockton (22.6; 766) 8) Ewing (22.4; 702) 9) Zo (21.8; 455) 10) Nique (21.8; 515) 11) Kevin Johnson (21.3; 568) 12) Drexler (21.2; 608) 13) Kemp (20.6; 747) 14) Mark Price (20.5; 500) 15) Pippen (20.4; 731) 16) Reggie Miller (19.8; 776) 17) Ceballos (19.7; 500) 18) Terrell Brandon (19.4; 543) 19) Tim Hardaway (19.3; 660) 20) Mullin (19.0; 640) 21) Derrick Coleman (18.9; 512) 22) Glove (18.9; 704) 23) Rod Strickland (18.8; 690) 24) Kukoc (18.7; 412) 25) Hornacek (18.5; 760) 26) Ricky Pierce (18.5; 545) 27) Gatling (18.3; 487) 28) Schrempf (18.3; 737) 29) Vlade (18.2; 715) 30) Rik Smits (18.1; 706) 31) Mitch Richmond (18.0; 722) EDIT: It looks like pretty much everyone agrees with Gary Payton, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, and Hakeem Olajuwon making the team. That's 2 points, 2 wings, and 3 bigs. I will attach a poll for the remaining three spots. Also, take a look at the BBF 2000's All Decade Team thread and the BBF 1980's All Decade Team thread and the BBF 1970's All Decade Team thread. Vote there, too.

Re: BBF 1990's All-Decade Team
I'm planning to do my best to not put the same player on any two of these teams, and I implore you to do the same. For this reason, Shaq will not be considered for this team, but Jordan, Drexler, and Dominique Wilkins will be considered.
I personally feel that 5 of the top 8 players from this decade were big men, and it would be a shame to leave any one of them off this team due to positional needs. I think Barkley could play the 3 in a pinch, so that's where I'm putting him. Reggie is going to get the nod for me over Drexler for the same reason Ray got the nod over Wade in the 2000's list. Shooting will be paramount in this little 4-team tournament. Pippen gets the nod over Nique because his skills are so unique. PG Payton/Stockton SG Jordan/Reggie SF Barkley/Pippen PF Hakeem/Mailman C Admiral/Ewing

Re: BBF 1990's All-Decade Team
same reason some took Ray-Ray over Wade? looking for a specialist off the bench - Mitch was a very good 3pt shooter but the Farengi was an all timer (plus the clutch factor) - at least that was my reasoning

Re: BBF 1990's All-Decade Team
PG - Stockton
SG - Jordan SF - Pippen PF - Malone C - Olajuwon 6 - Barkley 7 - Payton 8 - Shaq 9 - Ewing 10 - Drexler Hurts me to leave Zo off, but it's hard to take him over Ewing or The Admiral. If I wanted more shooting, i'd drop Drexler for Chris Mullin.

Re: BBF 1990's All-Decade Team
Yeah I know, I went with Ewing over The Admiral - as my memory says he had a slightly better jumper
. Who knows.I would've picked DRob but needed a wingman so went with Drex.

Re: BBF 1990's All-Decade Team
Honestly, I probably leave Shaq off just because of the locker room problems he creates and his need to always be in the spotlight. When you have three professionals in the form of Hakeem, Patrick, and Robinson to chose from, certain guys just aren't worth the headaches.

Re: BBF 1990's All-Decade Team
It's a team right? A team has 12 with 3 not active, right?
