I wouldn't doubt that he gets more per year, but Denver can offer him the fifth year. Really would you rather pay McGee this or DeAndre Jordan? Sadly McGee is probably better and has more upside.

What was the point of the lockout? This reminds me of Adonal Foyle and Brian Cardinal, and Mahinmi, Lopez...

He should get $18/3 with "basketball IQ" incentives.

This basketball IQ thing with McGee is like the Zach Randolph/selfish thing from years past. People keep emphasizing a players weakness and then it gets parroted and overblown.

He has no basketball IQ whatsoever. He has absolutely no clue on defense and has a very limited game otherwise. However for Denver this isn't that bad, since they need size and they need a mobile big man who fits in with their transition game. You're not asking McGee to do stuff he can't do. Run down the floor, jump real high and dunk the ball when we throw it up at the rim. McGee is worth more to them than he would be to a half court team.

Mahinmi is getting 4 mil a year.

Notice the teams you don't hear giving outrageous deals to ordinary players: S.Antonio, Lakers, OKC, Mia... the teams that win.

Years from now when these bad deals hem these teams in, the smart teams will step in and pluck anyone they want off of the market. And Dan Gilbert will still cry foul !

Artest - 7 mil for 3 more years

Gasol and Artest led to championships, hardly ordinary players. Both were all stars long "before" the Lakers paid them.
