He will replace the winner of this spot on the next list. I was trying to give some more perimeter-oriented defenders a fair shake instead of just making it all centers and PFs.

The guy has won 3 DPOY awards, would be 4 if hadn't injured his back this year and anchored top 5 defenses every year in the SVG era with literally no other above average defensive players on his team during that time. He's an excellent defender, one of the best ever. His accolades can already stack up with anyone in history. Barring a breakdown of epic proportions, he'll be a top 3 defender of all-time without question.

just for the record, P-EW:
- Is #9 All-Time in NBA DWS (led the league 3 times);
- Is #20 All-Time in NBA Drtg (led the league 2 times);

Considering DWS, P-Ew was Top-5 NBA in 8 seasons. During those years, these players were on the league (only centers): Hakeem, David Robinson, Robert Parish, (an old) Moses Malone, Mark Eaton, Mutombo, Alonzo Mourning and Shaquille O'Neal.

his team has consitently been beaten defensively by Chris Paul, who's had a [B]below[B]average defenssive lineup on his team almost every year. his team was beaten by the trailblazer's, who had LMA. having you team have the lowest opponent ppg doesn't equate to one player - it's coaching more. and, by that, Ewing would be the GOAT defender ever - his teams were the 3/5 greatest defensively of all time.

also, "opponent points" is just an indication of both teams pace...if one team has a really slow pace, both "defense" are better.
