Pick the worst contract so far this summer.
Which of the following contracts is the worst?
7 Javale McGee 4 years 44 million. 6. Chris Humphries 2 years 24 million 5 Nicolas Batum 4 years 46.5 million. 4 Jason Thompson - 5 years 30 million 3 Jeff Green - 4 years 36 million 2 Omer Asik - 3 years 25.1 million 1 Brook Lopez - 4 years MAX. Worst deal of the century would be 1. Magic deal Howard for Lakers protected 2nd round, etc 2. R Lewis contrac 3. G Arenas contract

Re: Pick the worst contract so far this summer.
The Lopez deal would be a whole lot worse if it had been given out by a rebuilding team like the Magic. In that event a deal like that would have destroyed any chance you had to getting where you want to be. It certainly is no bargain for the Nets, but that team is where they are going to be. They were already boxed in by all of those other contracts, none of which are going anywhere.
So the only thing the Lopez contract really hurts is the Russian gangster's wallet. If it does not bother him it does not bother me. Of course it would be a lot better to trade him for someone who can rebound and defend.

I don't think that Jason Thompson contract is bad. I thought it was very reasonable.

Jeff Green, no doubt about it. At least Lopez provides talent with size which is hard to find in the NBA these days.
The Asik deal looks worse than it is, it's just one really bad year at the end of the contract which will actually be a very nice expiring trade chip

Re: Pick the worst contract so far this summer.
Asik, Fields and Jeff Green were the worst. The market value for Green wasn't anywhere close to what the C's gave him. $9M for a guy who didn't play last year because of a heart condition and is a career 13-14ppg scorer? Yikes.
