I say he needs to play about 2-3 more seasons before he can be up there.
Considering how they played at a different era then Lebron did, absolutely none of that proves anything.

LeBron has 3 MVP's. Oscar has 1 and West and Baylor both have 0.

LeBron has 1 Finals MVP. West has 1 (in a losing effort) and Oscar and Baylor both have 0.

LeBron has as many or more NBA records than Oscar, West, and Baylor. You could certainly argue he's had a better career.

But this is greatest player, not greatest career.

You can't be the greatest player with out a great career.

So your last statement makes no sense what so ever. And you should lose your voting privileges in any Greatest Players of all time threads as a consequence to that asinine statement.

Re: Greatest players of all time (number 12)

How many players were clearly the best player in the NBA for as long as Lebron has been? I mean ever. Other than Jordan I can't think of anyone during my lifetime and I'm an old guy. Duncan and Shaq had one another, so did Wilt and Russell. Magic was clearly better than Bird, but not to the extent that Lebron is better than his contemporaries. Great means great, no matter how you try to spin it.

After watching a lot of documentaries and hear both of them getting interviewed, I'm not so sure that Magic was clearly better than Bird. He had the accolades, but clear better player? I don't know, I wasn't there but from what I am gathering, it isn't that clear.

Magic himself alluded that Bird was the best basketball player of all time (at the time).

Bill Russell won 11 rings, so he by far has the greatest career in NBA history but he's certainly not the greatest NBA player ever. Don't be so quick to judge about others making ridiculous comments.

A prime, healthy, Larry Bird was the damnest best basketball player i have ever seen.

Unfortunately, his career was cut short due to injuries (back), so he tends to be seen as inferior to Magic Johnson...

Again, I will repeat this: Oscar submarined his own teams. His own talent. His attitude was piss poor. His team got rid of him because they simply couldn't ****ing stand him anymore. Oscar's numbers were amazing. What he did on the court was wonderful. He may have been a big boost to his teams, but he kept them from achieving with his attitude.

i take issue with this .

not even conceding he was an attitude problem because of the era and how black players were portrayed any opinion by media at that time should be taken with a grain of salt .

what honestly could he have accomplished ?

8 of his 1st 9 seasons the title was won by the celtics , the season they didn't win was wilts 76ers considered to be a top 10 team all time.

after the celtic dynasty subsided he was 31-32 at that time most guards were either already out or on their way out .

the next year the knicks win a title with a roster that featured 4 HOF's all between the ages of 24-29 , in their prime , Oscar's best teammate tom van arsdale

the following season he is traded and wins a title with a 2nd year kareem abdul-jabbar .

i would like to hear a reasonable explanation to how a supposed better attitude could have gotten him a title any sooner.

Re: Greatest players of all time (number 12)

How would people view Jerry West if he finished his career with 2 championships('69 & '72), 2 Finals MVPs('69 & '70) and a regular season MVP('70)?
