Re: Bosh adding 6 pounds to play center
He won't be gaining the 15-20 this year, though. That was definitely too much. Because of that he did the opposite and got really skinny during the 2010 offseason (one of the only offseasons without a "look at the weight Bosh gained!" article), and he got pushed around too much. The next offseason I believe we were hearing 10-15, but that this time he learned how to put on muscle more properly instead of the way he did it in Toronto. That one wasn't said to be to play center, though, as he was still against being stuck there.
No doubt that'll be his main position this time around, he and the team have played much better with him there. It allows for way more space in the lanes for the two superstars, and his dimensions are actually bigger than many centers. |

Re: Bosh adding 6 pounds to play center
I'm surprised how well small ball has suited you guys. I guess having the greatest player in the world and two other stars helps with odd lineups though.
Lebron being so damn versatile is the real key here I would say.

Re: Bosh adding 6 pounds to play center
The rhetoric from the Heat staff is that its not "small ball." By measurement, you can make the case that LeBron and Bosh are bigger than a lot of 4's and 5's respectively. Both can be strong rebounders, in conjunction with Wade's above-average rebounding for a guard. Another common tenet of small-ball is lack of post play. Wade and LeBron are great out of the post, and Bosh is more capable there than people give him credit. The Heat were also generally playing big perimeter line ups as well.
Battier being able to hold his own against bigs was a surprise for me. I know he's got decent PF height at 6-8, but he's pretty slender for the position. |

Re: Bosh adding 6 pounds to play center
Funny enough, Shane Battier is listed here as 6'9.5" with shoes. Which kind of put him in the 6'10 zone with other PF.
He weighted 229lbs in 2001. I think over the years, he has bulked up 10-15 pounds (In comparison, apparently, Pau is 240lbs). He also has a freakishly long wingspan. I was surprised when I saw his pre-draft measurements. I always pictured him as 6'8" in my head. http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-...=0&pos=3&sort= Last edited by Dee-Zy; 09-18-2012 at 08:10 AM. |

Re: Bosh adding 6 pounds to play center
yeah, going from 230 to 235 isnt going to make much difference at all in terms of being able to stop someone from establishing position on him (or vice versa) and arm strength has jack to do with it unless you somehow manage to consistently get the refs to look the other way

Re: Bosh adding 6 pounds to play center
Jonas Valanciunas has weighed in at @ 257 lbs before training camp. Raptor fans won't be worrying about fake C's for a long time to come.
