Re: Best rivalries heading into the season
I wouldn't sleep on the Mavs.
Despite Brand not playing at his peak, having him come off the bench is quite a luxury. Collison, Mayo, Marion, Dirk, Kaman, despite the lack of superstar power outside Dirk, is still a very good starting 5. Having Vince Carter as your 7th man is pretty deep too. I'm not saying that they will certainly make the finals, I think they are the dark horse to make it but to say that they don't make the playoffs is a stretch for me. I wouldn't be surprised if they reach the WCF. |

Really?
How so? Not saying that they can't but you say it with so much confidence and everybody on this board have been ripping me when I said not to count the Mavs out in the West. I'm curious to know why you say that. |

Re: Best rivalries heading into the season
People want to keep recalling '11 and everyone counting the Mavs out as their sole reason for making us a darkhorse this year...but we also had Tyson Chandler at maybe his absolute peak. That's the major difference and what people don't understand.
All we had needed for those past 8-10 years was a center like him next to Dirk, we got one, we win a ring. Kaman and Brand don't come close to filling his breach, especially when you consider Dwight Howard is in the conference now. The Lakers would eat our food on so many different levels...so no, there's no darkhorse in Dallas, but we'll definitely make the playoffs and probably be a top 4 seed because I envision having a strong regular season record. Re: Best rivalries heading into the season
Heat vs Pacers will have a lot of chirping, some cheap shots, etc.
Lebron and Wade didn't like what Granger did to them, and Indy isn't going to back down, so its going to be a hell of a series.

Jason Terry was a lot better than OJ Mayo. No way they make it to the Playoffs this year.
