He actually hit the game winning jumper in games 3 and 5 (well, technically it is a game winner since it was Miami's last field goal in a one point victory). Awful that year but came up big at times for them when they needed someone to.

Obviously, Heat fans will.
For some time, at least.
But 20 years from now no one will.
The same as him and Malone playing in the Finals as Lakers. Or Shaq being a Sun.
You don't remember scrubs.

EDIT: Someone was telling me a dude by the name of Devean George was a 3-time championship winner for the Lakers. I was: What???????

Ray played pretty well in that Finals series. I'm not arguing that he wasn't good when he was in Boston, but he was never the vocal and emotional leader of that team (that was Garnett). The Celtics were never "his" team (that's Pierce). He was a borderline all-star who played hard and came up big at times for Boston. He also may have cost Boston a title by falling off a cliff hard after game two of the 2010 Finals. The Celtics adjusting in their first season post-Ray Allen is a story. Ray Allen taking over Mike Miller's role on the Heat is a story. Ray Allen going from Boston to Miami isn't a story.

So what does that have to do with Allen's decision?

So what does that have to do with Allen's decision?
So, if someone writes an article about how Ray Allen has big shoes to fill when he takes over for Mike Miller on the Heat, that's a story. But if someone writes a story about how one of Bostons big 3 left the team for their biggest rival and how some of his former friends are now not on speaking terms with him is not?

Come on. That's just a plain ****ing stupid thing to say.

No, what I'm saying is that Allen wasn't driven out by bad blood between him and Garnett or Rondo, and that he didn't join Miami to stick it to Boston. Allen left because Boston didn't have a spot for him and he joined Miami because they were the only contender that made him a priority. Will the first Boston-Miami game be more interesting because Ray's in another uniform? Sure. But the reasons why Allen left are being wildly overblown/misrepresented because it's more fun to claim that nobody wants to play with Rondo.

I think most people understand he left for Miami because he didn't like the idea of being a backup in Boston and didn't feel they tried hard enough to woo him to stay.

Him heading to Bostons biggest conference rival and the defending champions is still a big story though, no matter how you slice it.

No, not even close. Who here is saying that it's about Rondo

The act of him going from Boston to Miami alone is the big deal, no one said anything about him not liking Rondo being part of the reason that I can recall.

Re: Rondo speaks on Ray

He didnt want to be a backup in Boston so he goes to be a backup in Miami for less money than what Boston was offering?? Doesn't sound right to me.

They probably sold him that Wade can slide to the 1.

That's fine. What I meant by saying Ray to Miami needs to stop being a story was that the reasons he left Boston and signed with Miami were pretty straightforward, not the locker room intrigue some writers tried to play up.

The first post in this thread (that you made) is Rondo responding to a question about his relationship with Allen and denying that it was the cause of Ray switching teams. That's what lead me to say that it needs to stop being a story.

I said who here in this thread. The media perpetuates what they want, but you keep downplaying the move in this thread

I made one post in response to the original Rondo quote and then have responded to people who quoted me to explain my position. I'm not showing up every few posts, unsolicited, screaming that everyone here is wrongly blaming Rondo.

Re: Rondo speaks on Ray

To me it strikes me as a bitch move by Allen. I could see if Miami offered him more money or a bigger role or if Boston was some lottery squad not going anywhere, Boston is still a threat and they offered him more money for essentially the same role.

Re: Rondo speaks on Ray

if Ray was going anywhere it almost couldnt help but be Miami, no way does he go to the Lakers, the Thunder are set - where else does he have a legitimate chance to both contribute at his position AND have a very real shot at another ring?

Really, man?

And again, he felt betrayed by Boston trying to (and nearly) moving him twice.
