Re: Real talk is Andrew Bynum ok
That's what Bynum implied, but Kobe has gone, what, 3 rounds with it? Obviously it didn't exactly fully resurrect Roy's career, and we've yet to see the effect on Oden, but everyone else seems to have benefited from it. Never heard of it taking a guy from basically healthy to fire and brimstone.

Re: Real talk is Andrew Bynum ok
Bynum was never "basically healthy" though. The article above features a quote from someone from the Sixers stating that they knew his knees were a mess when they traded for him. Orlando's GM can now proudly say that even though he traded Dwight for nothing, he still didn't get the worst of the deal.

Re: Real talk is Andrew Bynum ok
He said they knew there was risk. We're about to get into a petty semantics debate, but "basically" healthy meant able to play nearly a full season.

Except that he wasn't basically healthy. We had this discussion about his knee issues all summer, the Sixers had four different specialists look at those MRIs because he wasn't healthy, and they wanted a realistic assessment of the risk. Apparently the seven footer with bad knees and a history of poor conditioning has a degenerative condition. Shocking, I know.

Orlando should have gotten a bonafide player or expiring deals. They got neither. Now they have untradable players with multi year deals who can't take anyone anywhere. I better not hear another bad word about Jim Buss ! To get the best big in the game for someone who can't play one game ? How more lopsided can it get. I thought the new CBA was designed to stop the Lakers from fleecing suckers ?? |

Re: Real talk is Andrew Bynum ok
I've been mocking Orlando for so long over their getting less for Howard than Cleveland did for James it felt good to congratulate them for a change. But not for anything they did but because the Sixers gave up Andre Iguodala for nothing. Of course, it makes sense that Philly'd get less for Iguodala than Orlando did for Howard.

Re: Real talk is Andrew Bynum ok
Yes, but he's bone on bone now, so I'd wager that staying on the court all of last year (in what was essentially a contract year since this season was an option year) caused enough damage that the Sixers team doctor got one look at those MRIs and sent out the SOS for specialists. Size and conditioning has done for everything else.
