LA fans, how true is this Princeton stuff
I heard TNT ranting and raving about it, and see a lot of people are talking about a slower pace and Nash playing too much off the ball. Haven't had the opportunity to really sit and watch, but is it that bad, do you think it's something you'll be able to succeed with or will success come once you scrap those sets and free wheel it more?

It hampers Nash the most, but Gasol is perfect for it.

I'm not a big fan of it, but right now it's not even out biggest problem. Our defense is atrocious.

And specifically the horrific point guard defense. As hard as it is to believe Nash got considerably worse since last year and even Blake has looked gawdawful defensively. On another board someone was pimping Lillard because of that game, and I joked "If Isiah had made his debut against the 2012 Lakers he'd be remembered as the other guy to put 50/25 in an NBA debut. If Oscar made his NBA debut against the 2012 Lakers we'd remember Wilt as the other guy to score 100 in a game."

When's the last time the Lakers had a good defensive point guard? I truly don't remember seeing it since I started watching them 19 years ago.

Fisher wasn't bad in his day. Even the corpse of Gary Payton was better than Blake this year (and, sadly, he's their defensive stopper at the PG spot).

Maybe Ron Harper? I don't remember him being bad when he played for us on those championship teams.

I'm fine with it. The offense hasn't been the problem. The defense and turnovers are the issue.

Howard is still not 100% nor is Nash and Kobe. And the D is terrible. And people in L.A. have no patience. By Christmas this will be a distant memory and they'll be running smoothly. |
