Re: ESPN: Mike Brown Fired

Well, this just got interesting. D'Antoni would be incredible; he's not the best defensive mind ever but people act like players are simply wandering around the Staples Center parking lot with no sense of what to do without a coach at the helm. Championship teams put forth defensive effort regardless of the reputation of who's on the sideline.

All reports out of LA have the locals and insiders saying it would not surprise anyone to see Phil come back. He is reportedly in good health and Jim Buss' primary goal is to win a title in the next two seasons.

One note for everyone. Jackson's entire staff outside of Shaw, are sitting at home with nothing to do.

The only way for this story to get better is for a van Gundy to be the next coach.

Yep...Phil will get his band back together: Jim Cleamons and Frank Hamblen. And then bring back Fisher since he's at home doing nothing too.

Kurt Rambis is hangin out in Santa Monica. ESPN did just interview him on what he thinks will happen.

Re: ESPN: Mike Brown Fired

Wow. This is a season of surprises so far.

I mean we all knew he was getting fired, but ESPN just ran a story saying Lakers management gave him the vote of confidence yesterday..... and 24 hours later he's fired.

Prior to that we all knew Harden was probably gone, but no one expected it so soon.

Other than the Pacers sucking this is an exciting season.

Popovich is right, but it doesn't take a genius to know that Brown was not the best fit. I don't think anybody is arguing that.

You cant put the team together when half of them wonder why you are there in the first place.

Re: ESPN: Mike Brown Fired

I think D'Antoni and Nate need to come in as a package deal like they did with the Olympic team. Offensive and defensive coordinators. Doesn't matter which one you make the head coach.

Don't Jim Buss and Phil hate each other?

There are two sides of the floor. The Lakers are losing because of their defense. Need I say more?

I know K4L quoted this already, but this is so ridiculous.

Coaches will always defend coaches. Everyone knows Brown was in over his head, but the Lakers should've realized that before hiring him two summers ago. They DEFINITELY should've found a new coach this summer after re-vamping the roster.

Re: ESPN: Mike Brown Fired

I think most are in agreement here. Brown didn't get sufficient time to form his team, but he also wasn't the right choice to begin with.

At the end of the day it's a pretty dirty move from Laker management, who just gave him a vote of confidence 24 hours ago.
