Re: Today's Game Discussion [11/30/12]
Once again Rondo's out and the guys that "he makes look better!!!" are playing worlds better without him. He might be the single hardest player to build around in the NBA.

Re: Today's Game Discussion [11/30/12]
That's interesting. So many people would argue he's the best player in the league at the position known for bringing the most out of teammates. Why do you think it is they play better without him?

Re: Today's Game Discussion [11/30/12]
I don't know. I'm watching the game with a friend and the best we can come up with is that Rondo's habit of dribbling the air out of the ball makes a lot of the roleplayers very passive. Just watching Lee tonight, I haven't seen this version of him since his rookie year. Extremely aggressive on both ends of the floor, attacking, no hesitating when shooting. And if it's his command of the ball that causes the problem, how do you build around that?

Re: Today's Game Discussion [11/30/12]
Yeah my guess was going to be he pounds too much and looks for his assists rather than "hockey" assists or letting guys use their creating ability. Assists can be deceptive. AI had a lot of high-assist games, but no one confused him for a makes-his-teammates-better, true point.

Re: Today's Game Discussion [11/30/12]
Was going to mention Steph too, and Rose seems to be in that category. Rondo clearly isn't that type of scorer, but he's clearly more assist-guy than floor general. Never really thought of that having an overall negative effect for a team, but I don't watch Boston closely enough to have an opinion either way. I do know that he kills my team when we play him.

Re: Today's Game Discussion [11/30/12]
I know everyone hates Tommy Heinsohn, but I love listening to him on Friday or Saturday night games when the bourbon & coke is flowing like honey in the promised land. Highlight of tonight's game came in the fourth quarter on an errant pass that led to a Portland turnover, the three sheets to the wind Heinsohn says "That looked like a real rim job there". Followed by dead silence from the play by play guy.

And then some. He used to be drunk nightly, but due to doctor's orders he's cut back on the sauce. I feel sorry for Mike Gorman on these nights, but it's still hilarious.

Re: Today's Game Discussion [11/30/12]
Larry Sanders got a triple double tonight with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 blocks. Wow. And he's on my fantasy team too.
