There was a point Love and Beasley were both getting over 20pts/over 7 rebs. He was actually consistent for a time, imagine that. Some teams need to leave well enough alone. Now its chaos.

The team overhauled the roster because Love bitched to the media about not having enough help, and the supporting cast actually did a good job of treading water when they opened the season without their two best players because a 260lb guy thought knuckle pushups were a good idea. He's supposed to be the team leader and his sabotaging his own locker room because he wanted more money in his contract extension. Dwight would rightfully get killed for this, just because the Wolves have a poor track record doesn't give Love a pass to throw his teammates under the bus. Minnesota should get ahead of the curve and start shopping him now.

Love has no ground to stand on here. Taylor is right, a true superstar in this league is good enough to get you in playoff contention with crap. Paul did it. Howard did it last year. And a 15 win roster NEEDS to be overhauled.

He got a great extension on the level of what Marc Gasol got. That's fair. Taylor's responsible. Before anyone claims he should of got what Blake Griffin did the Clippers did that in part to make sure CP3 stays and also because Blake's sold out the building since his rookie season.

When they "overhauled" this roster they signed some guys from Europe. They signed a guy out of retirement. They sign some randoms and some D-league borderline pros. You don't put together a pro NBA team by sorting thru the recycling bin.

You've got an idiot GM making dumb decisions, and that's why they're terrible. Derrick Williams? Michael Beasley? Where's Jonny Flynn at? Just a bunch of clowns making personnel decisions.

A few thoughts

1. Were really bitching about the difference a 4-year, 62 million dollar contract and a 5 year, 80 million dollar contract represents?

2. I completely buy into the fact that you're not a star if you can't lead your team to the playoffs

3. It's bad enough your franchise is based in Minnesota...you want to make it even more difficult to attract players but having terribly unprofessional management?

Except when you do. The Wolves were 5-4 without Love or Rubio to start the season. "Some guys from Europe" are three double digit scorers who also give you rebounding and assists (depending on the player). Roy was a low-risk gamble.

Last summer was about the talent around Love, but Pekovic and Rubio both wound up being much better than was expected and injuries were the only reason they didn't make the playoffs last year. They improved a bit more this past summer, and now Love's dropped all pretense and is making it clear he's going to pout his way out of town in two years because he didn't get the right max contract.

Minny is a solid, hard working team. People get way too caught up in super teams these days, that they think a team is shit if it only has 1 or 2 allstar caliber players.

The team is already in contention, and when Rubio's back they're all the better.

Well, my first thought was "Serge Ibaka just got $11 mil/year, package him with Toronto's lottery pick!", but his contract doesn't kick in until next season, meaning he's got a poison pill provision. However, if ESPN's trade machine is to be trusted, the salaries work right now if you package Kevin Martin with Serge Ibaka and JJ Barea with Love. Now, I think Ibaka, Martin, and Torontos' pick is too much to give up for Love, even if you throw Memphis' pick in there, but I wonder if there's a way to make the trade work by breaking it into two separate trades that sends Derrick Williams somewhere that nets OKC a swingman to replace some of what Martin gives them.

If I'm OKC the deal sounds good, but do I really want to have a huge shake up of my team when its a top 3 contender?

And if I'm Minny I like where the team is headed, but scared to death that Love will leave, and the longer I wait the more apparent that is to other GM's and the asking price goes down.

Yea, it's not a no-brainer for either team, but locking up a core of Westbrook, Durant, and Love for the next decade is tough to turn down, even at the expense of Ibaka and a high pick. Minny obviously wants to keep Love until his mid-thirties, but the guys already laying the tracks for an "F YOU!" exit in two years, and getting Ibaka lets you continue to play for the playoffs and keep Rubio (hell, Ibaka's even technically Spanish). There's a lot of tough decisions to be made if anyone's going to even think about it. It's not going to happen, but it's an interesting theoretical.

Ibaka and a high pick is probably about the best Minny could hope for. And from OKC's side of it, they already have 2 promising young prospects and a lineup that's already tough to crack, so its a trade that on paper makes sense. You probably hope that Lamb can replace Martin as your 6th man if it went down.
