They also won't have to play without Love and Rubio all season, so it all works out. I'll be very surprised if that team stays relatively healthy (Roy excepted) and doesn't grab a bottom-four playoff spot.

Denver and LAL are still much better than them. Time will tell. There is also the patented GS flameout total collapse at the end of the season look forward to...

Nope. ESPN says Golden State is for realzies this year. And those guys cut through the hype and all the bull and look at things objectively.

That's part of the flameout though. Everyone at ESPN shouting "Who knew!?"

I'm not basing this on their record, I'm basing this on their talent. They are beating those dregs with 6 of their top 8 players missing some time this year.

I think they are capable of passing GSW and Utah. I also think they are capable of being passed by Denver, Dallas and the Lakers. They'll probably finish 7th or 8th depending on Rubio coming back 100% eventually.

Re: Kevin Love unhappy??

Been a while since I played around with the trade machine.

Timberwolves get: Pau Gasol, Tyreke Evans, DeMarcus Cousins
Lakers get: Kevin Love, Charlie Villanueva
Kings get: JJ Barea, Derrick Williams, Brandon Roy, Memphis 1st rounder (from MIN), PTBNL (Lakers 1st round draftee in 2014)
Pistons get: Marcus Thornton

Timberwolves get a decent replacement for Love and two talented younger players. Evans is a wing scorer, which the team needs. Cousins adds frontcourt depth in the short term, and could still turn into a star player. The two of them desperately need a change of scenery. If Adelman can't get their heads screwed on all the way, nobody can. Not a bad haul for Love.

Lakers get Love, who would fit the PF role D'Antoni's offense much better than Gasol. But, they have to take on Villanueva.

Kings cut costs for this year and purge the team of knuckleheads. They get the Grizzlies 1st rounder, which the Wolves own, and, if this is legal (I'm not sure it is) a player to be named later from the Lakers, who will be their 2014 1st round pick, since they can't actually trade the pick itself.

Pistons get a wing scorer, which they could use, but he's locked up for 3 more years at more salary than he's worth.

Anything?

If you somehow con the Kings into doing that its pretty nice all around.

Nice compared to some of the proposals I see on hockey boards I frequent. It would be the same as if I made a trade like:

Pacers trade Stephenson

Cavs trade Irving

Pacers although reluctant to give up Stephenson get a stud young point guard, while the Cavs free up room for Waiters, and get a young superstar in the making who was once compared to Lebron James when he was in highschool.

Worst part is, they're serious and they get mad when you call them out on it.

Re: Kevin Love unhappy??

My thinking is a) The Maloofs can't actually believe that they'll accomplish anything this year, and are likely more concerned about keeping costs minimal than anything. The time is coming where they'll have to sell or relocate. And b) Evans and Cousins cannot succeed in Sacramento, it's getting more and more obvious by the day, the latest example being Cousins' nut punch to Mayo. Thornton's worthless in Sacto but has enough to offer that some other team could use him. Might as well clean house and tank for the next two drafts and see what happens.

And even if it is a little much to give up in the end, well, the Kings have a history of doing dumb shit. Aside from Artest/Peja they haven't made a good basketball trade since the Webber days.

I see them trying to dump Reke and hoping Cousins shapes up. Though we all know he wont. And I think we all know Tyreke will blow up if traded into the right situation.

Budinger and Barrea were brought in specifically to be role players, and Roy was always a low-risk gamble, not "the guy". Should we start talking about how bad Miami is because Mario Chalmers wouldn't hack it as a backup on certain teams?

Ridnour's their second stringer, who's going back to the bench later this month.

Love's supposed to be the guy that takes the game-winner. Which is why they gave him a max contract, and is why Love's complaining that it wasn't max-y enough.

If the season ends today, Minnesota's the seven-seed despite not having their second-best player the entire year and missing their franchise guy for almost the entire first month. You're clearly wrong.
That's garbage. You just described a team full of role players. No team succeeds like that. Don't give me that bullshit about the season ends today. You know damn well they'll get roasted in the playoffs.

They got nobody on the wing. No hero ball. When the game's on the line you need options, and everyone knows it's only one guy right now. WTF is this 1986? That doesn't work.

The shot comes down to Love, and then Barea by default. That's a joke. Put it this way, if Derek Fisher, JR Smith or Jason Terry went there, they'd be the #1 wing option with the clock ticking.

The shot coming down to Love at the end of the game is bad?

Hero ball? We're just making terms up now? How can a guy who got 26ppg last year not play "Hero ball!!!!@!"?

If your argument is that any team worse than OKC isn't worth being on, then ok, I guess. However, if Love is really as good as he's made out to be, the Timberwolves make it into the playoffs comfortably this year. They supposedly have the best power forward in the game and one of the best young point guards of the last several years.
