Re: Today's Game Discussion [12/20/12]
I wouldn't take Dirk, DWill, or maybe even Howard over WB, with some others on that list questionable. The "Arguable" list? Sorry, DZ: Laughable.

Re: Today's Game Discussion [12/20/12]
Westbrook is a chucker and is lucky to have KD bail him out when he is doing his I think I'm Kobe so I can play hero ball bullshit.
I would take a healthy Bynum, Zbo, and I think OKC should of traded WB and keep Harden. They don't need a shoot first PG and we can see how well can Harden score and make plays. They need a good 3pt shooting PG to go next to Harden and KD and next thing you know, WB is Franchise or Starbury 2.0. He's lucky to have the players that Franchise and Starbury never had. OKC will never win a chip with him. I think it is laughable that you would take WB over Dirk. I would prefer DWill over WB any day. |

Re: Today's Game Discussion [12/20/12]
Dirk is an MVP caliber player, WB will never even sniff one in his life.
You must have short term memory if you don't remember what Dirk is capable of doing. Wait until he comes back. He might not be an MVP player anymore but he hasn't fallen that far. WB is flat out a better scorer than DWill. Nothing else. DWill is a much better PG, playmaker, defender and higher bbal IQ, He doesn't do bone headed plays that KD has to bail him out for. |

Re: Today's Game Discussion [12/20/12]
Carmelo reminds me of Dirk on defensive side.
He is a below par defender who needs a good one in Tyson to cover his mistakes to make his team a contender. Dirk does not have that defender anymore. Dallas aren't a threat this season and Dirk appears past his prime. He was a great player he will be remembered as a great player, but he is too weak defensively to be considered one of the top ten in the league at the moment as his age goes up and skills decline.

Re: Today's Game Discussion [12/20/12]
No but at this stage in their careers he is a better scorer.
NOTE: In their respective careers Dirk will be remembered as the better player. But Russell right now is the better player.

Re: Today's Game Discussion [12/20/12]
I don't like hating on WB's game because of his situation. I'd like him better as a 2, and even as a non-Thunder fan he frustrates the hell out of me. However, I like his skill-set better than those guys. DWill has played relatively awful for the last couple of seasons. His defense isn't what some used to say it was, also. In a vacuum, I believe Russell is better at this point than both.

As for the actual list, I'd take Westbrook over Love, Wade, Deron Williams, and Dirk today. Love isn't substantially better than Blake Griffin and is a horrendous defender, and if we're talking specifically about this season he's been a dreadful scorer as well. Wade has fallen off and is a shell of his former self. Westbrook is more durable and is better on both sides of the floor. Deron Williams has had a very below average year by his standards and I have absolutely no idea how you came to the conclusion that Williams is a better defender because that simply isn't true. Dirk hasn't played a single game this year and was extremely mediocre last year.

Re: Today's Game Discussion [12/20/12]
Yup, I held Love out because I didn't even consider how awful he is defensively. Wade I left out because my heart couldn't, and I still believe the best of current Wade is better than the best of current Westbrook, but I'm fine with people thinking I'm nuts for that.
I think Rose v. Westbrook might even be a toss-up at this point. The big difference is Rose has a much more sound approach to the game, but Russ is every bit as talented, and the better shooter. |
