I would love to be able to play in a place like Phoenix Arizona. It's an amazing city. And yet I guess Amare didn't have enough money even though he already had millions of dollars being thrown his way.

Don't try to talk to me about contracts when it comes to making the "smart" move. There's no such thing when it comes to this. You're making lots of money regardless, but somehow people fail to realize that.
It's awfully easy for you to make life-changing decisions for a guy from behind your computer and call him an idiot, isn't it? Particularly decisions that will cost him more money than you'll ever make in your lifetime.

Why don't you enlighten us again on how athletes are all overpaid because they like, make more money than doctors and engineers and stuff?

PHX didn't want him back. They knew even their crack training staff couldn't keep those knees from spiraling out.

PHX didn't want to take him back at the price it would have cost. I forget the details, but their offer was less guaranteed money and I think there was an issue about no one wanting to insure the contract.

Too cynical of me to believe that may've been a charade for the fans, knowing he would get paid more elsewhere by a desperate-for-a-star NJ or NY?

PHX's offer was $56M guaranteed for 3 yrs and last 2 would be guaranteed if he played at least 20 mins. Medical staff reported concerns over his knee in the future.

Funny how we can blame a player for taking "too much money" but we don't actually turn and point at the organization for giving out that money. Especially in situations when it wasn't a bidding war ie: Lewis Contract.

Re: Knicks Tried To Give Amare Away Over The Offseason

I hate when people talk about what these players should or should not do without even trying to understand their pov. Don't seak on what YOU would do in your current situation.

If a team rang my bell and handed me a 100 million dollar contract, I'd take it knowing I wouldn't be able to live up to it, screw y'all.

Anyway, I'm not mad about amare. He turned the franchise around. Real easy to forget what he's done for the team. And i dont think Carmelo comes without Amare here. Dolan can afford to pay him.

And he said it in Spanish, too, so he looked like an angry drug dealer in a Michael Mann film. GOOD! How’s that for the league’s image, Stern? You ****ing *******. His name is Brandon…he from Compton…he got rapper friends…and he’s your league’s next superstar. Cry!

Knicks fans, can you imagine what Jennings is going to do to you? He’s gonna be slicing through that defense like V for Vendetta. Then, after the game, he’s gonna slice through security and find Donnie Walsh and stab him in the damn heart.

I guess Kobe feels like averaging 30 again. At this point, he’s like Keanu at the end of the first Matrix. He became who he was supposed to be and now he’s just gonna do whatever he wants.

Actually, we were trying to sign Lewis that summer if you recall DZ. No idea why ORL gave him so much more than we could've. We wound up with Ricky Davis/Smush Parker/Penny Hardaway, 15 wins, and a 2nd-overall pick that turned into one of the biggest busts in NBA Draft history. Not bad.

Wasn't that just for the first three years he had to play in 60% of the available minutes in order to get 4 and the same in 4 to get 5?

Still wasn't a "bidding war". That's what I mean. Heat showing interest is no reason to hand him a 120 mil contract.

Which is what I alluded to. They didn't just show interest. They flew him in and put a contract on the table. As I said, no idea why ORL went so much higher than what we could even offer.

I don't see how either of the trade possibilities mentioned would be considered "Giving him away"
