Frank was a good coach for the most part. Byron was abysmal.

not surprising that this would come out. Hell you've got all that money in the roster, no reason not to throw some serious cash at Phil, or if nothing else pretend that you want him to get him and get some ink from the tabloids.

If they're really trying to get him, that's gotta be all Jay-Z/Prokhorov. I'm sure King knows if they bring in Phil, he'll insist on personnel control a la Riley. If he wanted it in LA, he'll definitely demand it to coach this Brooklyn team.

Bryon Scott coached a franchise that wasn't relevant since Dr. J's ABA days to back-to-back NBA Finals ... and his reward was getting fired. The Nets hired Lawrence Frank, who promptly ran the Nets franchise into the ground.

That's not true at all. Ownership ran that team into the ground, not Frank.

The Nets won in spite of Byron. There was a reason Kidd and Martin ran him out of town. He was an awful, awful coach.

And the best team the Nets ever had was the 2004 team coached by Frank. They just got a bad break with injuries in the playoffs that year.

Jason Kidd coached the Nets to two Finals appearances, then Ratner/Thorn ran the franchise into the ground.

I thought Frank was a shit coach he could barely get the nets over the Raptors.

As for Avery, I think he is among the most underrated coaches out there. He did a great job with the Mavs and I think he did a good job with the Nets.

Nets will get exactly what they deserve... mediocrity. Which is what that roster screams. Only New Yorkers thought/think this team is anywhere close to contention. Deron ain't that dude and the rest of the roster is not that good.

Hated Byron Scott because he was lazy. Kidd ran that team.

I liked Larry Frank because he was a very hard working coach. Kidd ran that team also, and then when Kidd left the team Ratner/Thorn took over.

But I compare Frank to Avery, as far as their firings.

Both were using systems that obviously didn't work, right in front of their eyes, and both were too stubborn or stupid to change their systems.

As I said, I really liked Larry Frank, but I was calling for his dismissal about 3/5ths into the season prior to the season he got fired in.

Chuck Daly was a good coach, but his boss Willis Reed screwed him up.

Calipari was a good coach, but Cassell starting the season injured ended his NBA career.

Kevin Loughery may be the worst coach to ever coach in the ABA/NBA
