Bill Russell was as much an athlete as Lebron is and had far superior basketball skills and had perhaps the highest basketball IQ ever.

If he came into the league today he would prob average 18 pts 15 reb 2 steals 5 assists and 6 blocks and that little because he's 78.

Lebron has a way to go to even dream of bring on his level.

Which of his mythical skills was it that would allow Russell to to dominate the modern NBA? Was it his uncanny shooting ability which once allowed him to shoot as much as .460 from the field? Or was it his uncanny free throw shooting ability which allowed him to top 60% from the line on two different occasions?

Well, that really isn't the question, because asking "If player X was born back in the days when basketball players still smoked tobacco would he still be any good" is kind of silly. I think everyone means "If we dropped player X into the game 50 years ago would he be overwhelmed by Ye Olde Thyme Baquetteballe Skylles?"

Also, Oscar actually was a freak of nature. Keep in mind that he was, more or less, the same size as Boston's future HOF power forward. In a day when 6' guards were common and 6'5"-6'6" PFs the rule, Robertson was a load for any guard to defend.

Oscar wasnt a freak (at least not because he was that big - players heights havent actually varied that significantly over the last 60 years although their weights certainly have)

here are some heights in a 9 team league for guards playing 20mpg or more in 63-64

Richie Guerin 6'4"

Rod Thorn 6'4"
Don Ohl 6'3"

Oscar is listed as 6'5" 205 lbs and played alongside a couple 6'2" guys so was the 'big guard' in the equation
