Which is nothing to be ashamed of. Also when you have to travel on every other play you are not super equipped fundamentally. ***Unnecessary bating*** Anywho glad you steered this arguement away from Bill Russell because I know it pains you knowing he'll never even get close to his level. Re: Best Player to Wear #6?
Well, that really isn't the question, because asking "If player X was born back in the days when basketball players still smoked tobacco would he still be any good" is kind of silly. I think everyone means "If we dropped player X into the game 50 years ago would he be overwhelmed by Ye Olde Thyme Baquetteballe Skylles?"
Also, Oscar actually was a freak of nature. Keep in mind that he was, more or less, the same size as Boston's future HOF power forward. In a day when 6' guards were common and 6'5"-6'6" PFs the rule, Robertson was a load for any guard to defend.

here are some heights in a 9 team league for guards playing 20mpg or more in 63-64 Sam Jones 6'4" Tom Gola 6'6" Gary Phillips 6'3" Richie Guerin 6'4" Dick Barnett 6'4" Rod Thorn 6'4" Don Ohl 6'3" Oscar is listed as 6'5" 205 lbs and played alongside a couple 6'2" guys so was the 'big guard' in the equation |

Re: Best Player to Wear #6?
To flip things around a bit, can anyone imagine Bill Russell with the benefit of modern coaching, training, and medicine, and without the need to spend considerable energy facing racism?

BLASPHEMOUS TOWARDS LEGOD JAMES. Seriously dude and even without all that, what center has the offense to go against him? NO BODY. People like to claim those eras were weak and had inferior white players. LOL look at todays centers. This is a weak era. |
